Amy Schumer Slams Glamour Magazine for Including Her in Plus-Size Issue
LifestyleGlamour's special "plus-size" issue, a collaboration with Lane Bryant, is on stands now, and at least one person has spent the unholy $12.99 it costs to buy it: Amy Schumer. And she's pissed. Not because of the price, but because she was included in the pages of the magazine, the implication being that she's a plus-size woman. "I go between a size 6 and an 8," she wrote on Instagram. "Young girls seeing my body type thinking that is plus size? What are your thoughts?"
On the one hand, you could argue that by calling out the magazine, Schumer is suggesting there's some shame to being plus-size (not the case); on the other, it's in fact insane for a woman who wears a size 6/8 to be categorized as such. And then there's the novel idea that it's dumb to categorize women based on size at all, a concept Schumer seems to have endorsed with these RTs.
Glamour's editor-in-chief, Cindi Leive, responded on Twitter:
Last year, Schumer won Glamour's Trailblazer Award at the magazine's Women of the Year ceremony. "I'm probably like 160 pounds right now," she said in her speech then. "And I can catch a dick whenever I want."
Yes, let's end on that note.
