Գրիգոր Նարեկացու «Մատյան ողբերգության» պոեմը  էստոներեն է թարգմանել էստոնացի ռեժիսոր, սցենարիստ Պեետեր Վոլկոնսկին: Նա նաև ռոք երաժիշտ է, դերասան և կոմպոզիտոր:

Լրագրողների հետ զրույցում Պեետեր Վոլկոնսկին նշեց, որ Նարեկացի առաջին անգամ կարդացել է ռուսերենով:

«Սկզբում, երբ արդեն սկսում էի թարգմանել՝ խնդրում էի, որպեսզի կարդան ինձ համար հենց հայերենով, որպեսզի լսեմ, թե ինչպես է հնչում այս ստեղծագործությունը: Ես երկար եմ մտածել, թե ինչպես թարգմանել այն, որպեսզի էստոնացի կարդացողը հասկանա, որ սա 10-րդ դարի պոեմ է: Ես հենց գրաբարից եմ թարգմանել գիրքը և այդ հարցում ինձ օգնել է Նորայր Պողոսյանը»,- ներկայացրեց իր աշխատանքը Վոլկոնսկին:

«Մատյան ողբերգության» պոեմի մի հատվածը թարգմանելու համար նրանից պահանջվել է 6 տարի:

ՀՀ մշակույթի նախարար Լիլիթ Մակունցը նշեց, որ շատ է կարևորում նմանատիպ իրադարձությունները:

«Շատ ուրախ եմ, որ այս գիրքն արդեն իսկ հասանելի կլինի նաև էստոներեն լեզվով: Շատ եմ ողջունում այս փաստը, քանի որ «Մատյան ողբերգության»-ը ոչ միայն հայ գրականության գոհարներից է, այլև համաշխարհային ժառանգության մաս է կազմում»,- նշեց Մակունցը:

Գիրքը երկու երկրների՝ Հայաստանի և Էստոնիայի հանրապետությունների մշակույթի նախարարությունների համագործակցության արդյունքն է: Մակունցն այդ կապակցությամբ ընդգծեց, որ Էստոնիայի մշակույթի նախարար Ինդրեկ Սաարիի հետ ծրագրել են, որպեսզի համատեղ այլ նախագծեր նույնպես իրագործեն:

Էստոնիայի Հանրապետության մշակույթի նախարար Ինդրեկ Սաարին ասաց, որ սա հիանալի նվեր է իրենց երկրի համար, քանի որ նրանք էլ են նշում իրենց երկրի 100-ամյակը:

«Մենք նման ստեղծագործություն, ինչպիսին է «Մատյան ողբերգության»-ը, չունենք, բայց կան գրքեր, որոնք նույնպես այսքան շատ են թարգմանվել»,- շեշտեց Ինդրեկ Սաարին:

Հայ միջնադարյան հոգևորական, քրիստոնյա աստվածաբան, միստիկ բանաստեղծ, երաժիշտ և փիլիսոփա Գրիգոր Նարեկացու «Մատյան ողբերգության» պոեմը, որը հայտնի է նաև «Նարեկ» անվանմամբ ամբողջական կամ մասնակի՝ թարգմանվել է աշխարհի շուրջ 30 լեզվով։

Պոեմը բաղկացած է 95 գլխից։ Ժանրային առումով այն քնարական–հոգևոր է։ Հայտնի չէ, թե քանի տարի է գրվել պոեմը, սակայն Գրիգոր Նարեկացին այն ավարտին է հասցրել մահվանից մեկ տարի առաջ՝ 1002 թվականին։ «Մատյան ողբերգության»-ը գրաբարից աշխարհաբարի է վերածել արձակագիր, թարգմանիչ Մկրտիչ Խերանյանը։ Հայ գրականության մեջ բազմաթիվ են աշխարհաբար թարգմանությունները։ Վազգեն Գևորգյանը թարգմանել է պոեմի ծաղկաքաղը։
