Աֆրիկյան մայրցամաքն ակումուլացնում է արևի էներգիայի ամբողջ ծավալի 60 %-ը, սակայն արևային էլեկտրակայանների համաշխարհային հզորությունների չնչին՝ ընդամենը 1 %-ն է գտնվում Աֆրիկայում։

Արևային էլեկտրակայանները վերջին տարիներին իսկական բում են ապրում, հատկապես հաշվի առնելով ռուս-ուկրաինական հակամարտության և դրա տնտեսական ու քաղաքական հետևանքների հետ։

Աֆրիկյան մայրցամաքն, իհարկե միշտ էլ հետ է մնացել զարգացման տեմպերով, սակայն արևայինն հզորությունների առումով իրավիճակը շատ ավելի տխուր է։ ԱՄՆ էներգետիկայի առաջին փոխնախարար Դեյվիդ Թուրքը Դուբայում վերականգնվող էներգիայի միջազգային համաժողովի ժամանակ հայտարարել է, թե Աֆրիկայում տեղադրված արևային վահանակները տալիս են համաշխարհային հզորությունների միայն 1 %-ը, ինչը վրդոհվեցուցիչ է։ Ահռելի աշխատանք կա անելու իրավիճակը շտկելու համար։ ԱՄՆ փոխնախարարը հավելել է, թե հարկավոր է լրջորեն ավելացնել աֆրիկյան երկրների ֆինանսավորումն արևային հզորությունների տեղակայման առումով։

Հատկապես հարկավոր է ուշադրություն դարձնել խոցելի և աղքատ երկրներին, որոնք իրենք լուրջ միջոցներ չունեն, սակայն կարող են արևից ահռելի քանակությամբ էլեկտրաէներգիա գեներացնել և օգտագործել իրենց կարիքների համար։ ԱՄՆ-ն հայտարարել է նման նախագծերի իրականացման՝ սեփական ծրագրի իրականացման մասին։

Արևային էլեկտրակայանները դարձել են լուրջ քաղաքական գործիք և ամերիկյան կողմը հրաշալի հասկանում է, որ այդ կերպ կարող է լրջորեն ազդել աֆրիկյան երկրների թե՛ տնտեսական և, թե՛ քաղաքական նախասիրությունների վրա։
