ՄԱԿ-ի Գլխավոր Ասամբլեայի որոշմամբ, 2005 թվականից ի վեր, ապրիլի 4-ը հայտարարվել է ականային վտանգի մասին իրազեկման և ականազերծման գործունեությանն աջակցելու  միջազգային օր:Աշխարհի բազմաթիվ երկրներում ականային վտանգը սպառնում է խաղաղ բնակչության և առաջին հերթին` երեխաների կյանքին, հաճախ դառնում է հաշմանդամության պատճառ:

Ականապատ տարածքները պիտանի չեն ոչ գյուղատնտեսության, ոչ անասնապահության, ոչ հանքարդյունահանման և ոչ էլ տուրիզմի ու տնտեսության այլ ճյուղերի զարգացման համար, ուստի կամաց-կամաց լքվում և ժամանակի ընթացքում վերածվում են ամայի տարածքների: Լուծումը միակն է. ականազերծում և պատերազմի պայթուցիկ մնացորդների  վերացնում: Խնդիրը բավականին ժամանակատար է, ծախսատար և պահանջում է հետևողական բարեխիղճ աշխատանք: Ինչպես ամբողջ աշխարհում, այնպես էլ Հայաստանում ականային վտանգի վերացման պատասխանատվությունն իր ուսերին է վերցրել երկրի կառավարությունը:

Ինչպես տեղեկացրին ՀՀ պաշտպանության նախարարության լրատվական ծառայոյթունից, կատարված հետազոտություններով Հայաստանի հանրապետության Տավուշի, Գեղարքունիքի, Վայոց Ձորի և Սյունիքի մարզերի 42 համա յնքներում հայտնաբերվել և քարտեզագրվել են 131 վտանգավոր տարածքներ` 47մլն. քառ. մետր ընդհանուր մակերեսով: Ներկայումս ընթանում են տեխնիկական հետախուզման և ականազերծման աշխատանքներ, շարունակվում են ոչ-տեխնիկական հետազոտությունները: Ողջ գործընթացի համակարգումն ու որակի վերահսկողությունն իրականացնում է ՀՀ կառավարության որոշմամբ հիմնադրված հակաականային գործողությունների ազգային մարմինը` «Հումանիտար ականազերծման և փորձագիտական կենտրոն» ՊՈԱԿ-ը:

Ականազերծման աշխատանքներն իրականացվում են «ՀԱԼՕ թրասթ» կազմակերպության  կողմից` ՀՀ ՊՆ ինժեներա-սակրավորային խաղաղապահ գումարտակի հետ համատեղ: Ի դեպ, այդ գումարտակը ներկայումս  հանդիսանում է  երկրի հումանիտար ականազերծման միակ ներուժը: Աշխատանքների ֆինանսական աջակցությունը  տրամադրվել է ԱՄՆ պետդեպարտամենտի PM/WRA գրասենյակի կողմից: Հայաստանն աջակցում է դոնորների կողմից ֆինանսավորված աշխատանքներին բոլոր հնարավոր միջոցներով: Օրինակ՝ անցած տարի Հայաստանի ներդրումը ԱՄՆ պետդեպարտամենտի PM/WR-ի կողմից ֆինանսավորված ծրագրում կազմում է 75.000.000 ՀՀ դրամ (պրոֆեսիոնալ ականազերծողների, հանդերձանքի,տրանսպորտի, վառելանյութի տրամադրում և այլն): Այս ամենն արվում է, որպեսզի վստահ լինենք, որ մեր բնակիչները մեր երկրում կարող են անվտանգ տեղաշարժվել և հիմք ստեղծել զարգացման համար:

Հայաստանը զարգացման կարիք ունի, իսկ զարգացումը հանգեցնում է կայունության, որն էլ հենց այն է, ինչ պետք է երկրին և համայնքներին:
