Հայտնի է, որ Երևանի Գևորգ Էմինի անվան թիվ 182 ավագ դպրոցը, ՀՀ կառավարության որոշմամբ, պետական ոչ առևտրային կազմակերպությունից վերածվել է հիմնադրամի՝ անցնելով Մայր Աթոռ Սուրբ Էջմիածնի ենթակայության տակ: Մայր Աթոռի ենթակայությամբ այն դառնալու է հումանիտար ուղղվածությամբ նախամասնագիտական ավագ դպրոց: Այս որոշումը տարաբնույթ մեկնաբանությունների պատճառ հանդիսացավ: Քննադատներն ասում են, որ ՀՀ Սահմանադրությամբ՝ պետությունը բաժանված է եկեղեցուց, և կրթությունն ունի աշխարհիկ բնույթ:

«Երևանյան այդ դպրոցի անցումը Մայր Աթոռ Սուրբ Էջմիածնի ենթակայությանը դրական եմ գնահատում. ասեմ, թե ինչու: Տարիներ առաջ, երբ Վաղարշապատի դպրոցներից մեկն անցավ Մայր Աթոռի ենթակայությանը և բացվեց «Էօրնեկեան» հանրակրթական դպրոցը, ես` իբրև Գևորգյան հոգևոր ճեմարանի դասախոս, նշանակվեցի այդ դպրոցի հոգաբարձուների խորհրդի անդամ և դպրոցի հաստատման և կայացման ականատեսն ու մասնակիցը եղա:

Դպրոցի տեսուչը Տեր Վարդան աբեղա Նավասարդյանն էր (այժմ` եպիսկոպոս), ով եռանդով լծվել էր այդ գործին, հիմա էլ շարունակում է, եռանդն էլ չի նվազել:
Հիշում եմ, թե այդ խորհուրդը, որի կազմում կային նաև Երևանի հանրակրթական երեք դպրոցների փորձառու տնօրեններ, ինչքան մանրակրկիտ աշխատեց նոր դպրոցի կանոնադրության, զանազան կարգերի մշակման ուղղությամբ. անցկացվում էին ուսուցիչների վերապատրաստումներ, նոր ուսուցիչներն ընդունվում էին անաչառ մրցույթների հիման վրա, նաև աշակերտների գիտելիքների ամբողջական ստուգում անցկացվեց, որից հետո մշակվեցին ծրագրեր և այլն, և այլն: Մայր Աթոռի հաշվին աշակերտներն ունեցան համազգեստներ, շենքը բարեկարգվեց (հիմա կառուցվում է նոր, ընդարձակ մի համալիր): Կատարված աշխատանքների շնորհիվ նկատելի առաջընթաց գրանցվեց ուսման առաջադիմության ոլորտում, դպրոցը կարճ ժամանակում դասվեց առաջատարների շարքը:

Այն ժամանակ Վեհափառ հայրապետը, որի մասնակցությամբ երբեմն խորհրդի աշխատանքային քննարկումներ էին կազմակերպվում, ասում էր, որ ինքը նպատակ ունի Մայր Աթոռի հովանու ներքո օրինակելի մի դպրոց էլ ունենալ մայրաքաղաք Երևանում: Այժմ այդ ցանկությունն իրականություն է դառնում: Համոզված եմ, որ շուտով գոհացուցիչ արդյունքներ կգրանցվեն: Զարմանում եմ, որ մարդիկ այս ամենը քննարկման առարկա են դարձնում: Անհատը կարող է դպրոց բացել, իսկ Մայր Աթոռ Սուրբ Էջմիածինը չի՞ կարող դպրոց հովանավորել: Վստահաբար դա կարող է անել բարձր մակարդակով»,- ասաց Դավիթ Գյուրջինյանը:
