Օսմանյան Թուրքիայում 20-րդ դարասկզբին հայերի զանգվածային կոտորածները մեկ բառով կարելի է բնութագրել որպես նախօրոք ծրագրված և իրագործված ցեղասպանություն: «Ընդդեմ ցեղասպանության հանցագործության» խորագրով գլոբալ ֆորումի ընթացքում նման կարծիք հայտնեց բրիտանացի հայտնի իրավապաշտպան Ջեֆրի Ռոբերտսոնը: «Այն, ինչ տեղի է ունեցել Օսմանյան Թուրքիայում 20-րդ դարի սկզբում, չի կարելի կոչել այլ անունով, քան ցեղասպանություն: Այդ տարինե րին հայ բնակչությունը ենթարկվել է զանգվածային կոտորածների, ոչնչացվել է նրանց գույքը, բազմաթիվ եկեղեցիներ վերածվել են մզկիթների, ինչը խոսում է այն մասին, որ թուրքերը համոզված են եղել, որ հայերն այլևս չեն վերադառնալու: Սա ոչ այլ ինչ է, քան նախօրոք պլանավորված և իրականացված ցեղասպանություն»,-  ասաց Ռոբերտսոնը:

Նա շեշտեց, որ միջազգային հանրությունը պետք է միավորի ջանքերը Հայոց ցեղասպանության ճանաչման և դատապարտման հարցում՝ ընդգծելով, որ դա ապագայում ցեղասպանությունների կանխարգելման համար առանցքային նշանակություն ունի: «Եթե Հայոց ցեղասպանությունը ժամանակին դատապարտվեր, հետագայում մարդկության դեմ նման սոսկալի հանցագործություններ այլևս չէին լինի: Սրա վառ վկայությունն է այն հանգամանքը, որ Ադոֆ Հիտլերը հրեաների զանգվածային ջարդերը սկսելուց առաջ հայտարարել է, որ հայերի բնաջնջման մասին ոչ մեկ չի հիշում»,- ընդգծեց նա:

Ռոբերտսոնը նաև նշեց, որ Հայոց ցեղասպանության 100-րդ տարելիցի միջոցառումներին զուգահեռ Թուրքիայում Գալիպոլիի տոնակատարությունների անցկացման նպատակը մեկն է՝ աշխարհի ուշադրությունը շեղել Հայոց ցեղասպանության 100-րդ տարելիցի միջոցառումներից: Անդրադառնալով թուրքական իշխանությունների հայտարարություններին, թե Առաջին աշխարհամարտի տարիներին Օսմանյան Թուրքիայում տեղի ունեցածը «մեծ ողբերգություն» է, Ռոբերտսոնն ընդգծեց, որ այդ տարիներին Օսմանյան Թուրքիայում տեղի ունեցած իրադարձությունները ոչ թե մեծ ողբերգություն են, այլ մարդությաÕ ¶ դեմ ուղղված ծանր հանցագործություն: «Դա մարդկության դեմ իրականացված միջազգային հանցագործություն էր, որը մենք անվանում ենք ցեղասպանություն և որը պետք է ճանաչվի և դատապարտվի աշխարհի կողմից»,- ասաց նա:

Եզրափակելով ելույթը՝ Ռոբերտսոնը հույս հայտնեց, որ «Ընդդեմ ցեղասպանության հանցագործության» խորագրով գլոբալ ֆորումի ընթացքում ծավալվող քննարկումները թույլ կտան հասկանալ, թե ինչ քայլեր է հարկավոր իրականացնել ապագայում ցեղասպանությունները կանխարգելելու համար, ինչպես նաև անցյալում տեղի ունեցած ցեղասպանությունների ճանաչման և դատապարտման համար: Նա ընդգծեց, որ անցյալից հարկավոր է դասեր քաղել և հստակ քայլեր ձեռնարկել ապագայում մարդկության դեմ հանցագործությունները կանխելու համար:
