Հայոց ցեղասպանության ճանաչման հարցում պաշտոնական Բեռլինի և Վիեննայի դիրքորոշումների փոփոխությունը դարակազմիկ իրադարձություն է: «Մենք պետք է չմոռանանք, որ Առաջին համաշխարհային պատերազմում Գերմանիան և Ավստրիան Թուրքիայի դաշնակիցներն էին և այսօր նրանք իրերը կոչում են իրենց անուններով, ինչը շատ կարևոր է»,-լրագրողների հետ ապրիլի 22-ին կայացած հանդիպմանն այսպիսի տեսակետ հայտնեց Քաղաքական և միջազգային հետազոտությունների հայկական կենտրոնի փորձագետ Ռուբեն Մեհրաբյանը:

Նա նշեց, որ առերեսվելով իր պատմությանը՝ պաշտոնական Բեռլինը փորձում է ձերբազատվել իր ծանր անցյալի ևս մի հատվածից: «Նախկինում Գերմանիան ձերբազատվում էր Երկրորդ համաշխարհային պատերազմում իր պատմության ծանր էջերից, իսկ այժմ հերթը հասել է նաև Առաջին համաշխարհային պատերազմում իր գործած մեղքերի թողությանը»,-պարզաբանեց Մեհրաբյանը:

Ավստրիայի Հանրապետության խորհրդարանն ապրիլի 22-ին գումարված 25-րդ նստաշրջանի 68-րդ լիագումար նիստի ընթացքում ճանաչեց և դատապարտեց Օսմանյան կայսրությունում տեղի ունեցած Հայոց ցեղասպանությունը:

Գերմանիայի խորհրդարանն իր պաշտոնական կայքում հրապարակել է Հայոց ցեղասպանության հիշատակին նվիրված նոր բանաձևի նախագծի տեքստը, որում մի քանի անգամ նշվում է «ցեղասպանություն» եզրույթը:

Ապրիլի 24-ին, Գերմանիայի ժամանակով առավոտյան ժամը 9-ին հենց Հայոց ցեղասպանության հարցի քննարկմամբ էլ սկսվելու է լիագումար նիստը: Քննարկմանը հատկացվելու է մեկ ժամ, որի ընթացում 3 զեկուցումով հանդես են գալու Գերմանիայի խորհրդարանի ամենախոշոր խմբակցությունները` ՔԴՄ/ՔՍՄ միությունը, Գերմանիայի սոցիալ-դեմոկրատական կուսակցությունը և Ձախակողմյանների կուսակցությունը: Դրանից հետո քվեարկության է դրվելու բանաձևի նախագիծը` արդեն «ցեղասպանություն» եզրույթով ու հիմնավորմամբ, թե որ կոնվենցիայի որ կետով են օսմանյան Թուրքիայում տեղի ունեցած ջարդերը ենթակա կոչվելու «ցեղասպանություն»:
