Գերմանիայի խորհրդարանը 1915 թվականին Օսմանյան կայսրությունում 1.5 հայերի կանխամտածված բնաջնջումը և տեղահանությունները Ցեղասպանություն բնութագրող բանաձևը վերջնական քննարկման կդնի ապրիլի 30-ին: Բունդեսթագի` ապրիլի 24-ի լիագումար նիստում որոշվեց արտաքին հարաբերությունների հանձնաժողովի նիստ գումարել ապրիլի « 30-ին եւ արձագանքել հնչած 9 ելույթներին, որոնցից 7-ում պատգամավորները Ցեղասպանություն էին անվանում 20-րդ դարասկբին Օսմանյան Թուրքիայի կողմերից հայերի, հույների եւ ասորիների բնաջնջումը:

Նախատեսված մեկ ժամի փոխարեն քննարկումները տեւեցին շուրջ 2 ժամ: Թեմայի վերաբերյալ զեկույցներով հանդես եկան իշխող կոալիցիոն կուսակցական եռյակը, ձախերն ու կանաչները: Գերմանիայի կանցլեր Անգելա Մերկելի ղեկավարած սոցիալ-դեմոկրատական կուսակցության զեկույցը ներկայացրեց պատգամավոր Գեմոթ Էրվերը, իսկ Քրիստոնյա-դեմոկրատները/Քրիստոնյա սոցիալ-դեմոկրատներինը Քրիստոֆ Բերգները:

Գերմանիայի ամենախոշոր խմբակցությունների առաջադրած բանաձևում մասնավորապես նշվում է. «Մեկ միլիոնից ավելի էթնիկ հայերի ծրագրված բնաջնջումը և արտաքսումը 20-րդ դարում իրականացված զանգվածային բնաջնջման, էթնիկ զտումների, արտաքսումների և ցեղասպանության օրինակ է»:

Գերմանիայի խորհրդարանը դեռևս 2005 թվականին ընդունել է 1915 թվականին Օսմանյան կայսրությունում հայերի զանգվածային բնաջնջման, էթնիկ զտումների և աքսորի մասին բանաձև, որում սակայն նշված չի եղել «ցեղասպանություն» բառեզրը:Դաշնային կառավարությունը դիվանագիտական նկատառումների ելենելով սկզբում խուսափում էր «ցեղասպանություն» բառն օգտագործելուց:

Գերմանիայի դիրքորոշման մեջ շրջադարձ տեղի ունեցավ 2015թ. ապրիլի 20-ին` Գերմանիայի Դաշնության արտաքին գործերի նախարար Ֆրանկ-Վալտեր Շտայնմայերի և կանցլեր Անգելա Մերկելի խոսնակ Շտեֆան Զայբերթի հայտարարություններից հետո:

Իսկ Գերմանիայի Դաշնության Նախագահ Յոահիմ Գաուկն ապրիլի 23-ին Բեռլինի Մայր տաճարում կայանացած Հայոց ցեղասպանության հիշատակի արարողությանն իր ելույթում հայերի կոտորածները «ցեղասպանություն» է որակել:
