Նեպալում երկրաշարժի զոհերի թիվը գերազանցել է 6 հազարը: Այդ մասին լրագրողներին հայտնել է երկրի փոխվարչապետ Բամ Դեւ Գաուտամը:

«Ավելի քան 6 հազար զոհվածների մարմիններ են հայտնաբերվել փլատակների տակ»,- նրա խոսքը մեջբերել է Press Trust of India գործակալությունը: Փոխվարչապետը նաեւ ճշտել է, որ տարերքի հարվածներից տուժածների թիվն արդեն անցնում է 11 հազարից:

Ավելի վաղ Նեպալի վարչապետ Սուշիլ Կոիրալան ենթադրել է, որ զոհերի թիվը կարող է գերազանցել 10 հազարը, քանի որ փրկարարներին դեռեւս չի հաջողվում հասնել երկրի մի շարք հեռավոր շրջաններ:Նեպալի պաշտպանության նախարարության տվյալներով՝ ավերվել է 1,9 հազար բնակելի շենք, վնասված է եւս առնվազն 4 հազար շինություն:ԱՄՆ-ի նախագահ Բարաք Օբաման Նեպալի վարչապետի հետ ապրիլի 29-ին կայացած հեռախոսազրույցի ընթացքում հավաստիացրել է, որ Միացյալ Նահանգները հնարավոր ամեն ինչ կանի ավերիչ երկրաշարժի կապակցությամբ Նեպալին օգնություն ցուցաբերելու համար:Ինչպես հաղորդել է Սպիտակ տան մամուլի ծառայությունը, Օբաման եւ Կոիրալան «քննարկել են ԱՄՆ-ի քաղաքացիական ու զինվորական անձնակազմի շարունակվող ջանքերը, որոնք նպատակամղված են Նեպալի կառավարությանը եւ միջազգային կազմակերպություններին օժանդակելուն»:

7,9 մագնիտուդով երկրաշարժը Նեպալում տեղի է ունեցել ապրիլի 25-ի առավոտյան: Դրա էպիկենտրոնը գտնվում էր երկրի մայրաքաղաք Կատմանդուից 82 կիլոմետր հյուսիս-արեւմուտք ընկած շրջանում: Սեյսմոլոգները վերջին մի քանի օրվա ընթացքում գրանցել են շուրջ 70 հետցնցում, որոնցից ամենահզորը՝ 6,7 մագնիտուդով, գրանցվել է ապրիլի 26-ին:Նեպալի կառավարությունը 2,5 մլն դոլար Է հատկացրել ավերիչ երկրաշարժից տուժածներին օգնելու համար: Երկրի ներքին գործերի նախարարությունը նշել Է, որ բաշխվել Է 133 տոննա բրինձ, 187 ցենտներ շաքար, 122 ցենտներ աղ, 4 հազար շիշ ջուր, 3,6 հազար պարկ լոբի, թխվածքաբլիթ եւ այլ մթերքներ: Անօթեւան մնացածներին, որոնք Նեպալում առնվազն 500 հազար են, տվել են 4,7 հազար վրան եւ 11,8 հազար բրեզենտե տենտեր: ԶԼՄ-ների տվյալներով՝ օգնության բաշխումը բավականաչափ արագ չի ընթանում, եւ տուժածների մեծամասնությունը դեռեւս մնում Է բաց երկնքի տակ, չնայած այն բանին, որ մի շարք շրջաններում եղանակը վատացել Է եւ անձրեւ Է տեղացել, հաղորդել Է ՏԱՍՍ-ը:
