ԱՄՆ-ի Ատլանտա քաղաքի (Ջորջիայի նահանգ) Էմորիի համալսարանի գիտնականներն առաջին անգամ Էբոլա վիրուսի առկայություն են գրանցել այն մարդու ներակնային հեղուկի մեջ, որը լիովին բուժվել Է վերջինիս հարուցած հիվանդությունից: Այս մասին լրագրողներին հայտարարել են տվյալ հաստատությանը կից բժշկական կենտրոնի պաշտոնական ներկայացուցիչները:

Ըստ նրանց տեղեկատվության՝ ամերիկացի բժիշկ Յան Քրոզիեի մոտ, որը Սիեռա Լեոնեում աշխատել Է Առողջապահության համաշխարհային կազմակերպության (ԱՀԿ) գծով, այդ հիվանդությունն ախտորոշվել Է անցյալ տարվա սեպտեմբերին: Էմորիի համալսարանի մասնագետներին հաջողվել Է բուժել նրան, Քրոզիեի արյան մեջ Էբոլա վիրուս այլեւս չի եղել: Մինչդեռ, Էբոլա վիրուսի հարուցած հիվանդությունից (ԷՎՀՀ) բուժվելուց երկու ամիս անց ամերիկացին սկսել Է գանգատվել աչքերից մեկի բորբոքումից եւ արյան բաձր ճնշումից: Էմորիի համալսարանում կատարված անալիզները ցույց են տվել, որ նրա ներակնային հեղուկի մեջ Էբոլա վիրուս կա:

Ինչպես ընդգծում են բժիշկները. այլ մարդիկ Քրոզիեից ԷՎՀՀ-ով վարակվել չեն կարող: Այսպես, նրա արցունքում եւ աչքի շուրջը հյուսվածքներում վիրուս չկա: Մինչդեռ, դրա առկայությունը ներակնային հեղուկի մեջ, մասնագետների խոսքով՝ կարող Է տեսողության լուրջ խանգարումներ առաջացնել: Նշվում Է, որ աչքերի բորբոքումներ են ախտորոշվել նաեւ Էբոլա վիրուսով վարակված այլ մարդկանց մոտ, սակայն դրանց պատճառն անհայտ Է եղել: Ավելի վաղ գիտնականները պարզել են, որ Էբոլա վիրուսը կարող Է մի քանի ամիս պահպանվել այն մարդկանց սերմնահեղուկում, որոնք լիովին բուժվել են ԷՎՀՀ-ից:

ԱՀԿ-ի տվյալներով՝ Գվինեայում, Լիբերիայում եւ Սիեռա Լեոնեում համաճարակի սկսվելուց ի վեր այդ հիվանդությունից մահացել Է 11 հազար 5 մարդ, վարակվել են 26 հազար 593 բնակիչներ, հաղորդել Է ՏԱՍՍ-ը:
