Ամերիկացի զինվորականները վրացի իրենց գործընկերների հետ միասին մասնակցելու են Վրաստանի անկախության օրվան նվիրված միջոցառումներին, որը նշվում է մայիսի 26-ին: Այդ մասին հայտնել է հանրապետության պաշտպանության նախարար Թինա Խիդաշելին՝ ելույթ ունենալով Եվրոպայում ԱՄՆ-ի զինված ուժերի հրամանատար գեներալ-լեյտենանտ Ֆրեդերիկ Բեն Հոջեսի հետ համատեղ անցկացված մամուլի ասուլիսում:

«Համագործակցության լավագույն օրինակներից մեկը, որը ձեզանից յուրաքանչյուրը եւ ամբողջ Վրաստանը կտեսնի մայիսի 26-ին, ամերիկացի եւ վրացի զինվորականների համատեղ մասնակցությունն է երկրի գլխավոր հրապարակում կայանալիք միջոցառմանը: Դա մեր համագործակցության, բարեկամության, գործընկերության եւ այն աջակցության դրսեւորումն ու հաստատումն է, որը մենք Միացյալ Նահանգներից ստանում ենք վերջին երկու տասնամյակում»,- հայտարարել է Խիդաշելին:

Ինչպես նշում Է ՏԱՍՍ-ը, Խիդաշելին եւ Հոջեսը կարեւորել են մայիսի 24-ին Վրաստանում ավարտված «Բարձր մակարդակի գործընկեր» վրաց-ամերիկյան համատեղ զորավարժությունները: Խիդաշելիի խոսքով՝ վարժանքները «հաջող էին ու կարեւոր»: Նա նշել է, որ Հոջեսի հետ հանդիպման ընթացքում «հետաքրքիր խոսակցություն է եղել 2016 թվականին եւ հաջորդ տարիներին համանման վարժանքներ անցկացնելու շուրջ»:

Մայիսի 11-ին Վրաստանի պաշտպանության նախարարության Վազիանի ռազմակայանում վրաց-ամերիկյան զորավարժություններ էին սկսվել, որոնց երկուստեք մասնակցել են 600 զինծառայողներ, այդ թվում՝ 200-ն՝ ԱՄՆ-ից:
