ՀՀ ԱԺ արտաքին հարաբերությունների մշտական հանձնաժողովի նախագահ Արտակ Զաքարյանը մայիսի 26-ին հանդիպումներ է ունեցել Կանադայի խորհրդարանի Համայնքների պալատի արտաքին հարաբերությունների եւ միջազգային զարգացման հանձնաժողովի նախագահ Դին Էլիսոնի եւ Կանադայի Սենատի արտաքին հարաբերությունների եւ միջազգային առեւտրի հանձնաժողովի նախագահ Ռեյնել Անդրեյչուկի հետ: Վերջին հանդիպմանը մասնակցել է նաեւ ՀՀ ԱԺ «Ժառանգություն» խմբակցության պատգամավոր Թեւան Պողոսյանը:

Ինչպես  տեղեկացրին ՀՀ ԱԺ հասարակայնության և տեղեկատվության միջոցների հետ կապերի վարչությունից, հանդիպումների ընթացքում Արտակ Զաքարյանը կարեւորել է խորհրդարանական դիվանագիտությունը եւ, մասնավորապես, երկու պետությունների խորհրդարանների արտաքին հարաբերությունների համար պատասխանատու հանձնաժողովների միջեւ ուղիղ կապը: Արտաքին հարաբերությունների հանձնաժողովի նախագահը ներկայացրել է Հայաստանի Հանրապետության առջեւ ծառացած կարեւորագույն խնդիրները, անդրադարձել է Եվրասիական տնտեսական միությանն անդամակցությանը, ինչպես նաեւ այլ միջազգային կառույցների՝ Եվրոպական միության, ՆԱՏՕ-ի եւ մյուսների հետ զարգացող հարաբերություններին:

Կողմերը վերահաստատել են համագործակցելու պատրաստակամությունն ինչպես երկկողմ, այնպես էլ բազմակողմ ձեւաչափով: Անդրադարձ է կատարվել նաեւ ԼՂՀ հիմնահարցի կարգավորմանը եւ կարեւորվել ԵԱՀԿ Մինսկի խմբի գործունեությունը: Արտակ Զաքարյանն իր գործընկերներին շնորհակալություն է հայտնել Հայոց ցեղասպանության ճանաչման շուրջ ունեցած հաստատակամ դիրքորոշման համար՝ ընդգծելով կանադական խորհրդարանի երկու պալատների կողմից Մեծ Եղեռնի ճանաչումը վերահաստատող բանաձեւի եւ հայտարարությունների ընդունումը: Պարոն Զաքարյանը նշել է նաեւ, որ Հայոց ցեղասպանու թյան ճանաչումը չպետք է դիտարկել որպես քայլ՝ ընդդեմ Թուրքիայի կամ հօգուտ Հայաստանի, այլ որպես ցեղասպանության ոճիրը կանխարգելելուն ուղղված կարեւոր քայլ:
