Մինչ օրս խաղաղապահ առաքելություն է 2001 հայաստանցի զինծառայող. մայիսի 29-ը Խաղաղապահների միջազգային օրն է: Ինչպես  հայտնեց Խաղաղապահ բրիգադի հրամանատար գեներալ-մայոր Արթուր Սիմոնյանը, Կոսովոյում խաղաղարար առաքելություն է իրականացրել 657, Իրաքում` 342, Աֆղանստանում` 1002, Լիբանանում` 32 զինծառայող: Արթուր Սիմոնյանի տեղեկացմամբ` Լիբանանում ՄԱԿ-ի կա զմում ընդգրկված է մեկ զինծառայող որպես դիտորդ, ևս մեկն էլ պատրաստվում է դիտորդական առաքելություն իրականացնել Մալիում:

Մայիսի 29-ը Խաղաղապահների միջազգային օրն է: Միավորված ազգերի կազմակերպությունը մայիսի 29-ը Խաղաղապահի օր հռչակելու մասին որոշումը կայացրել է 2002 թվականին: Հայաստանում, ՀՀ պաշտպանության նախարարի հրամանով, օրը նշվում է 2010 թվականից: 2007թ. սեպտեմբերի 1-ից ՀՀ ԶՈւ խաղաղարար գումարտակը ՀՀ պաշտպանության նախարարի հրամանով վերակազմավորվել է խաղաղապահ բրիգադի: 2004թ. փետրվարից հայ խաղաղապահները միացել են ՆԱՏՕ-ի խաղարարար առաքելությանը և հունական, հետագայում` ամերիկյան զինուժերի կազմում առաքելություն իրականացրել Կոսովոյում, 2005 թվականի հունվարիÖ մինչեւ 2008-ի հոկտեմբերը լեհական բազմազգ դիվիզիայի կազմում` Իրաքում, իսկ 2010 թվականի հունվար-փետրվարից` Աֆղանստանում` Գերմանիայի Դաշնության զինված ուժերի կազմում: Հայ խաղաղապահների 32 հոգանոց դասակը 2014թ. նոյեմբերի 26-ից ՅՈՒՆԻՖԻԼ առաքելության կազմում՝ իտալական հրամանատարության ներքո, խաղաղապահ առաքելություն է իրականացնում Լիբանանում: ՀՀ ԶՈՒ-ն համաձայնություն է ձեռք բերել, որ Հայաստանը կմասնակցի նաեւ Մալիում կազմակերպվելիք խաղաղարար առաքելությանը:

Խաղաղարար առաքելություն իրականացնելիս հայ զինծառայողները մշտապես պարգեւատրվել են, նրանց ծառայությունը բարձր է գնահատվել գործընկերների կողմից: Բազմիցս նշվել է, որ Հայաստանն անվտանգության սպառողից վեր է ածվել միջազգային անվտանգություն ապահովող երկրի: 2004թ. փետրվարից, երբ հայկական ուժեր սկսել են առաքելությունը, արձանագրվել է վիրավորվելու մեկ դեպք: Իրաքում վիրավորված կապիտան Գեորգի Նալբանդյանը շարունակում է ծառայությունը ՀՀ Զինված ուժերում:

2002 թվականին ՄԱԿ գլխավոր ասամբլեան մայիսի 29-ը հայտարարեց խաղաղապահների միջազգային օր: 1948 թվականի այս օրը Միավորված ազգերի կազմակերպության Անվտանգության խորհուրդը ստեղծեց առաջին խաղաղապահ առաքելությունը: ՄԱԿ-ի խաղաղապահ ուժերն օգնում են հակամարտության գոտում գտվող երկրներին ստեղծել խաղաղ պայմաններ: Այս ուժերը բաղկացած են զինվորականներից, ոստիկաններից և քաղաքացիական անձանցից: 2015 թվականի մարտի 31-ի դրությամբ ՄԱԿ-ի կազմում զինվորական ծառայություն և դիտարկում է իրականացնում 93 հազար 743 մարդ,13 հազար 122-ը ոստիկաններ են, 5 հազար 277-ը միջազ գային քաղաքացիական անձնակազմն է, 1846-ը ՄԱԿ-ի կամավորներն են:
