ՖԻՖԱ-ի նախագահ Ժոզեֆ Բլատերը ՖԻՖԱ-ի կոնգրեսի բացման արարողության խոսքում շեշտել է կառույցի գործունեության թափանցիկությունը և կաշակեռության դեմ պայքարի կարևորությունը:

«Կա ֆինանսական խնդիր, բայց դա չէ այս պահին կարևորը, այլ մեր կառույցի գործունեության թափանցիկությունը և ՖԻՖԱ-ի ու ֆուտբոլի դերն աշխարհում: Այս երկու թեմաները կլիենն կոնգրեսի հիմնական թեմաները: ՖԻՖԱ-ն կհաղթահարի այս դժվարին շրջանը, սակայն վերջին զարգացումները ստվեցին ֆուտբոլը և կոնգրեսը: Մենք իրավունք չունենք, որ ՖԻՖԱ-ի հեղինակությունը ոտնահարվի»,- կոնգրեսի բացման ժամանակ իր խոսքում ասել է Բլատերը:

Ավելի վաղ ԶԼՄ-ներում գրում էին, որ ՖԻՖԱ-ի նախագահի ընտրության օրը կարող է փոխվել: ՈՒԵՖԱ-ի գլխավոր քարտուղար Ջանի Ինֆանտինոն հայտարարել էր, որ հարկավոր է տեղափոխել ՖԻՖԱ-ի նախագահի ընտրության օրը` ՖԻՖԱ-ում կաշառակերության հետ կապված մեծ աղմուկի պատճառով: Սակայն այդ հարցում ոչ մի փոփոխություն չի եղել, և ընտրությունները կկայանան մայիսի 29-ին: ՖԻՖԱ-ի նախագահի ընտրություններին կմասնակցեն երկու թեկնածու՝ ՖԻՖԱ-ի գործող նախագահ 79-ամյա Բլատերը և Հորդանանի ֆուտբոլի ֆեդերացիայի ղեկավար Ալի բին ալ Հուսեյնը:
