 Հարավային Կորեայի այն բնակիչների թիվը, որոնք վարակվել են շնչուղիների մերձավորարեւելյան համախանիշի վտանգավոր կորոնավիրուսով, հասել Է 18-ի: Այդ մասին  հունիսի 1-ին հաղորդել Է Ռյոնհապ գործակալությունը:  

Ավելի վաղ նշվել Էր վտանգավոր վիրուսով վարակվելու 15 դեպքի մասին: Առողջապահության նախարարության տվյալներով՝ երեք նոր հիվանդացածները եղել են այն հիվանդանոցում, որտեղ գրանցվել Է Հարավային Կորեայում վարակման առաջին դեպքը: Նրանցից երկուսը հիվանդներ Էին, եւս մեկը հիվանդանոց Էր եկել՝ տեսակցելու ծնողին:  

Նոր կորոնավիրուսային վարակն առաջին անգամ գրանցվել Է 2012 թվականին Սաուդյան Արաբիայում: Վիրուսը տարածվել Է առնվազն ինը երկրում՝ Սաուդյան Արաբիայում, Քաթարում, Հորդանանում, Ֆրանսիայում, Գերմանիայում, Մեծ Բրիտանիայում, Արաբական Միացյալ Էմիրություններում, Թունիսում եւ Իտալիայում: Այս վիրուսն, ինչպես եւ գրիպի վիրուսը, տարածվում Է օդակաթիլային ուղիով: Այս պահին կորոնավիրուսի դեմ պատվաստանյութեր գոյություն չունեն:     

2012 թվականի սեպտեմբերից Առողջապահության համաշխարհային կազմակերպությունը տվյալներ ունի շնչուղիների մերձավորարեւելյան համախտանիշի կորոնավիրուսով վարակման 1134 լաբորատոր եղանակով հաստատված դեպքերի մասին, որոնցից 427-ը մահացու են եղել, հաղորդել Է ՌԻԱ Նովոստին:
