ՀՀ սփյուռքի նախարարությունում տեղի է ունեցել հանդիպում Եթովպայի հայ համայնքի ներկայացուցիչների հետ: Ինչպես տեղեկացրին ՀՀ սփյուռքի նախարարության մամուլի եւ հասարակայնության հետ կապերի վարչությունից,  հանդիպնաը ներկա էին համայնքի ղեկավար Վարդգես Նալբանդյանը և նրա  դուստր՝  Ադիս Աբեբայում Միջազգային զարգացման ավստրալական գործակալության ծրագրի ավագ մենեջեր՝ Գայանե-Էլիզ Նալբանդյանը, ով ակտիվորեն ներգրավված է համայնքային կյանքում:

Ինչպես տեղեկացրին ՀՀ սփյուռքի նախարարության մամուլի եւ հասարակայնության հետ կապերի վարչությունից, ողջունելով հյուրերին՝ ՀՀ սփյուռքի նախարարի տեղակալ Վահագն Մելիքյանը կարևորել է Եթովպիայի հայ համայնքի հետ սերտ կապերի ամրապնդման, համայնքի պատմությանն ու ներկա խնդիրներին իրազեկ լինելու անհրաժեշտությունը: Նա նշել է, որ լինելով հայության հնագույն համայնքներից մեկը՝ Եթովպիայի համայնքը, այսօր էլ շարունակում է իր կենսունակությունը՝ պահպանելով նաև հայկական դիմագիծը:

Այնուհետև Վարդգես Նալբանդյանը տեսաշարով ներկայացրել է Եթովպիայի հայ համայնքի պատմությունը և հայերի պատմական ներուժը երկրի կայացման և զարգացման գործում: Նա հանգամանալից պատմել է Եթովպիայում առաջին հայերի հայտնվելու, տեղի ժողովրդի և կառավարիչների հետ նրանց առնչությունների մասին: Նա նշել է, որ հայ-եթովպական կապերը զարգանում էին հիմնականում երկու ուղղությամբ՝ եկեղեցական և գործարարական: Եթովպական արքունիքում հայերը պահանջված են եղել հատկապես որպես արհեստավարժ ոսկերիչներ, գորգագործներ, մանածագործներ: Տեղի հայերի շարքերում են եղել ն աև գրողներ, բանաստեղծներ, գեղանկարիչներ, ճարտարապետներ, երգահաններ:

Ըստ բանախոսի՝ Ադիս Աբեբայում գործում է Հայաստանյայց Առաքելական Սուրբ Եկեղեցու Եթովպիայի հոգևոր հովվությունը, հայկական Ազգային վարժարանը, որն ունի մանկապարտեզ և տարրական դասարաններ: Վարժարանում դասվանդվում է հայոց լեզու, հայոց պատմություն, աշխարհագրություն, կրոն, Եթովպիայի պետական լեզուն՝ ամհարերեն, անգլերեն, ֆրանսերեն: Դպրոցն ունի 220 աշակերտ, որից 11-ը՝ հայ:

Վերջին տվյալներով Եթովպիայում բնակվում է շուրջ 150 հայ, որից 80-ը՝ Ադիս Աբեբայում:
