Հայ-իրանական ռազմավարական նախագծերի մեծ մասն ու հատկապես հայ-իրանական երկաթուղու կառուցումը կյանքի չէր կոչվում երկու հիմնական պատճառով` Համաշխարհային տնտեսական ճգնաժամ եւ Արեւմուտքի կողմից Իրանի նկատմամբ պատժամիջոցների կիրառում:«Արմենպրես»-ի հարցին ի պատասխան իրանագետ Վարդան Ոսկանյանը շեշտում է, որ ներկա դրությամբ ճգնաժամի ազդեցությունը թուլանում է, իսկ եթե հունիսի 30-ին Իրանի եւ Վեցնյակի միջեւ ձեռք բերվի պայմանավորվածության, ապա Արեւմուտքի պատժամիջոցներն էլ կթուլանան: «Հայ-իրանական երկաթգծի բացումը ռազմավարական քայլ է՝ շատ կարեւոր Հայաստանի համար: Այս նախաձեռնությունը թե՛ տնտեսական, թե՛ ռազմավարական, աշխարհաքաղաքական ու նաեւ քաղաքական առումով անչափ կարեւոր է, քանի որ այս կերպ Հայաստանը ճանապարհ կունենա դեպի Պարսից ծոց»,- աս աց Ոսկանյանը` հավելելով, որ երկաթգծի կառուցման պարագայում Հայաստանը կդառնա նաեւ կապող օղակ Սեւ ծովի եւ Պարսից ծոցի միջեւ: Իրանագետը շեշտում է, որ երկաթուղին ձեռնտու է նաեւ Չինաստանին եւ լավ հնարավորություն է Մետաքսի ճանապարհի կառուցման համար: «Մենք պետք է հասկանանք, որ հայ-իրանական երկաթգծի կառուցումը չափազանց կարեւոր է եւ դրան այլընտրանք չունենք: Սա նաեւ պետք է հասկանա միջազգային հանրությունը` հատկապես Արեւմուտքը, քանի որ երկաթուղին մեզ կօգնի ազատվել թուրք-ադրբեջանական շրջափակումից»,- ասաց Ոսկանյանը:

Իրանագետ Գոհար Իսկանդարյանն էլ հայ-իրանական երկաթգծի կառուցումն առաջին հերթին դիտարկում է քաղաքական ենթատեքստում: Տնտեսական առումով Իսկանդարյանը վստահ չէ, որ այն մոտ ժամանակահատվածում լուրջ արդյունքների կհանգեցնի, սակայն քաղաքական առումով կարեւորագույն քայլ կլինի:

Ըստ Իսկանդարյանի, այս կերպ, բացի Պարսից ծոց դուրս գալուց, Հայաստանը կապեր կհաստատի նաեւ Իրանին հարակից պետությունների հետ: Ըստ նրա, նախաձեռնության իրականացման առնչությամբ առայժմ չկան քաղաքական խոչընդոտներ: «Սա շատ ծավալուն ծրագիր է, եւ չի բացառվում, որ նախաձեռնության որեւէ փուլում լինեն նաեւ դժվարություններ, խոչընդոտներ: Սակայն ներկա դրությամբ քաղաքական խոչընդոտներ չկան»,- ասաց Իսկանդարյանը: Ըստ նրա, այս հարցում շատ կարեւոր է նաեւ հունիսի 30-ին կայանալիք Իրանի եւ Վեցնյակի հանդիպումը, որն, ըստ հայտարարությունների, կունե նա վերջնական արդյունք: «Իրականում կողմերը ցանկանում են հաշտություն կնքել: Իրանը, թեպետ հայտարարում է, որ իր համար այդքան էլ մեծ նշանակություն չունի հաշտության կնքումը, սակայն իրականում, այն շատ կարեւոր է: Ինչ վերաբերում է Արեւմուտքին, ապա նրանք հոգնել են այդ խնդրից եւ ցանկանում են շուտափույթ լուծում գտնել»,- ասաց Իսկանդարյանը` հավելելով, որ Արեւմուտքի եւ Իրանի միջեւ հարաբերությունների նորմալացման գործընթացը ոչ այնքան կապված է ՌԴ-ի եւ Արեւմուտքի միջեւ հարաբերությունների վատթարացմամբ, որքան Մերձավոր Արեւելքում եւ հատկապես Սիրիայ ում տեղի ունեցող իրադարձություններով:v
