Ամերիկացի հայտնի դերասան Ջորջ Քլունին հայտարարել է, որ պատրաստվում է ֆիլմ նկարահանել բրիտանական News of the world թերթում առաջացած միջազգային սկանդալի և նրա սեփականատեր մեդիամագնատ Ռուպեր Մերդոկի մասին: Ինչպես հաղորդում է «Արմենպրես»-ը` վկայակոչելով lenta.ru-ին, «Հաքերային հարձակում» ֆիլմի հիմքում բրիտանացի լրագրող Նիք Դեյվիսի համանուն գիրքն է: Ամենայն հավանականությամբ` նկարահանման աշխատանքները կսկսեն հաջորդ տարի, իսկ ֆիլմի արտադրությամբ կզբաղվի Sony Pictures-ը: «Այս պատմության մեջ կա լավ ֆիլմին բնորոշ բոլոր տարրերը` սուտ, կոռուպցիա, շանտաժ և այդ ամենը բարձր մակարդակի վրա: Չէ՞ որ խոսքը վերաբերում է Լոնդոնի ամենախոշոր թերթերից մեկին: Նիքը համարձակ և խիզախ լրագրող է եւ նրա գրվածքի հիման վրա ֆիլմ ստեղծելը մենք համարում ենք մեծ պատիվ»,- հայտարարել է Քլունին: Ֆիլմի հիմքում News of the world-ի դեմ հարուցված քրեական գործն էր: Այն հարուցվել էր 2005- 2006թ. եւ վերսկսվել2011թ.: Ընկերության աշխատակիցները կասկածվում էին անօրինական գաղտնասլումների մեջ: Նրանք կասկածվում էին քաղաքական գործիչների եւ հայտնի աստղերի հեռախոսային խոսակցությունները գաղտնալսելու եւ դրանք հրապարակելու մեջ: Բացի այդ, թերթի մի շարք աշխատակիցները կասկածվում էին իրավապահ մարմինների ներկայացուցիչների կաշառելու եւ շանտաժի միջոցով տեղեկատվություն ձեռք բերելու մեջ: Թերթը, որ 165 տարվա պատմություն ուներ, 2011 թ. հուլիսի 10-ին հայտարարեց, որ դադար եցնում է իր գործունեությունը:
