Հայ առաքելական սուրբ եկեղեցին հուլիսի 30-ին նշում է Սբ Սոփիայի եւ նրա երեք աղջիկների` Պիստոսի, Ելպիսի եւ Ագապու հիշատակության օրը: Այս անունները զուտ քրիստոնեական ծագում ունեն եւ հունարենից թարգմանած հաջորդաբար նշանակում են` իմաստություն, հավատք, հույս և սեր: Ինչպես «Արմենպրես»-ին տեղեկացրին Մայր Աթոռի տեղեկատվական համակարգից, Սոփիայի եւ նրա երեք դուստրերի հիշատակը հայ եկեղեցում տոնվում է Վարդավառի երրորդ կիրակիին հաջորդող հինգշաբթի օրը:

Սոփիան ազնվական ընտանիքի զավակ էր եւ բնակվում էր Հռոմ քաղաքի մոտ: Կորցնելով ամուսնուն` նա իրեն ամբողջովին նվիրում է Աստծուն: Լինելով ջերմեռանդ հետեւողը Քրիստոսի` իր երեք դուստրերին դաստիարակում է քրիստոնեական ոգով: Նրանց կյանքում իշխում էին միայն քրիստոնեական արժեքներն ու գաղափարները: Եվ ահա հեթանոս մի երիտասարդ սիրահարվում է Սոփիայի աղջիկներից մեկին եւ մորից նրան կնության խնդրում: Սակայն մայրը մերժում է երիտասարդին` ասելով. «Մենք քրիստոնյա ենք եւ կուսությունը ոսկուց եւ մարգարտից ավելի թանկ ենք համարում»: Իսկ երիտասարդը վր դովվելով` իր բողոքն է հայտնում ժամանակի կայսեր Ադրիանոսին: Կայսրն ավելի դաժան փորձության է մատնում նրանց. կանչում է երեք աղջիկներին եւ պահանջում կուռքերին զոհ մատուցել: Սակայն մանկուց սնված լինելով Հիսուս Քրիստոսի պատվիրաններով` աղջիկներն ընդդիմանում են կայսրին` հաստատ մնալով իրենց հավատքին: Այդ ժամանակ կայսրն ավելի է բարկանում` հրամայելով գլխատել նրանց: Իսկ նրանց մայրը` Սոփիան,հավաքում է իր զավակների մարմիններն ու հողին հանձնում: Ինքն էլ աղոթում է Աստծուն, որ Բարձրյալն օր առաջ իր հոգին վերցնի, որպեսզի միանա իր սիրասուն դուստրերին: Աս տված անսում է մոր աղաչանքներին եւ Սոփիան խաղաղությամբ ավանդում է իր հոգին:
