Մինչև 15 տարեկանը ես կարծում էի, որ բոլորը տեսնում են այդ գույները. տեքստերի, մաթեմատիկական բանաձևերի ու համերգների գույները։ Մի անգամ ես հարցրեցի եղբորս, թե ինչ գույն ունի «C» տառը (ի դեպ դեղձանագույն-դեղին) և ես հասկացա, որ իմ ուղեղն ամեն ինչ այլ կերպ է ընկալում։
Ես հասկացա, որ բոլորը չեն, որ տեսնում են տառերի, թվերի ու ձայների գույները։ Ես սովորեցի ապրել սրանով։ Սակայն ամենահրաշալի բանը, որը շատերը չեն տեսնում, երաժշտությունն է, դրա գույների, որակների ու հեղեղի պայթյունը։ Ամեն մի երաժշտություն յուրահատուկ ու անկրկնելի է, և հիշողության մեջ մի ամբողջ գեղանկար է թողնում։
