«Օգոստոսի 24-ին Ուկրաինայի ազգային տոնն էր՝ Անկախության օրը։1991 թվականի դետեմբերի 8-ից Ուկրաինան անկախ պետություն է, ընդ որում տարածքով Եվրոպայի ամենամեծ պետությունը, որը խորհրդային  տարիներին միշտ էլ ֆավորիտի դերում է եղել, այսինքն ԽՍՀՄ-ը անվերջանալի ներդրումներ է արել այդ հանրապետությունում։ Եվ ահա, անկախության 20 տարիների ընթացքում Ուկրաինան ոչ մի խոշոր, աղետալի ցնցում չէր ապրել, հարևանների հետ ոչ մի էական կոնֆլիկտ չէր ունեցել, պատերազմ չէր վերապրել։ Ու թվում էր, 20 տարվա ընթացքում այդ երկիրը ոչինչ չուներ անելու, քան ամուր պետություն ստեղծելն է, պետականության հիմքերն ամրացնելը։ Համենայնդեպս, որևէ տեսանելի խոչընդոտ սրա համար գոյություն չուներ:

Բայց այն պատկերը, որի ականատեսը եղանք 2014 թվականին Ղրիմի շուրջ ծագած կոնֆլիկտի արդյունքում, ուղղակի ապշեցուցիչ էր։ Պարզվեց Ուկրաինան ոչ թե պետություն է, այլ քարտեզի վրա գծած գծագիր։ Պարզվեց՝ Եվրոպայի ամենախոշոր պետությունը բանակ ու ոստիկանություն չունի, որ կարողանա միջինից ցածր մակարդակով պաշտպանել պետության անվտանգությունն ու տարածքային ամբողջականությունը։ Ընդ որում, հաշվի առեք, Ուկրաինան չի ունեցել զենքի և սպառազինության ոչ մի պրոբլեմ, որովհետև նախ զենք արտադրող և զենք արտահանող երկիր է։ Պարզվեց այդ պետության հիմքում չկա ոչ մի գաղափար և գաղափարախոսություն, պարզվեց, որ այդ երկրում քաղաքացիություն հասկացությունը շատ հարաբերական է։ Եվ ընդհանրապես շատ բան պարզվեց։ Միայն մի բան չպարզվեց ի՞նչ էին մտածում այդ երկրի պետական այրերը, ընդդիմությունն ու իշխանությունը անկախության 20 և ավելի տարիների ընթացքում։

 Վերջին շրջանի իրադարձությունների ֆոնին ընդունված է Ուկրաինայի հասցեին համակրանքի և աջակցության խոսքեր ասել։ Սա բնական է և հասկանալի։ Բայց նրան, ում սիրում ես, պետք է կարողանաս ասել նաև ճշմարտությունը։ Եվ հիմա ակնհայտ է, որ Ուկրաինան ինքը իր ներսում մի շատ կոնկրետ խնդիր ունի լուծելու։ Ինքը և միայն ինքը պետք է որոշի՝ պետությո՞ւն է արդյոք, թե քարտեզի վրա գծած գծագիր, որին կարելի է ջնջել տասը կոպեկանոց ռետինով։ Շնորհավոր տոնդ, սիրելի և բարեկամ ուկրաինացի ժողովուրդ»,–գրում է թերթը։
