Մերձավոր Արեւելքում եւ Հյուսիսային Աֆրիկայում շարունակվող ռազմական հակամարտությունները հանգեցրել են այն բանին, որ 13 միլիոննից ավելի երեխաներ չեն կարողանում դպրոց հաճախել: Այդ մասին, ինչպես տեղեկացնում է «Արմենպրես»-ը, հաղորդել է ՄԱԿ-ի Մանկական հիմնադրամը:

ՅՈՒՆԻՍԵՖ-ի զեկույցում ասված է, որ երեխաների մի ամբողջ սերունդ դուրս է մնացել կրթության համակարգից:

Հիմնադրամի տարածաշրջանային բաժանմունքի ղեկավար Փիթեր Սալաման պատմել է, որ միգրանտներից շատերի համար երեխաների կրթությունն այն գլխավոր պատճառն է, որը նրանց դրդել է լքելու  Սիրիան, Իրաքը, Եմենը եւ Լիբիան:

Անկայուն տարածաշրջաններում բազմաթիվ ուսուցիչներ թողնում են աշխատանքը դպրոցների վրա կատարվող հարձակումների պատճառով: Բացի այդ, դպրոցների շենքերը հաճախ վերածվում են փախստականների կամ հակամարտության մասնակիցների բնակատեղիի:

Սալաման նշել է, որ վերջին ժամանակներս փախստականներին ընդունող երկրներն ավելի ու ավելի հաճախ չեն կարողանում ապահովել մարդկանց կրթության իրավունքը:
