Այս մասին հոկտեմբերի 1-ին, Տարեցների միջազգային օրվան նվիրված մամուլի ասուլիսին, Հայաստանի տուն-ինտերնատներում բնակվող տարեցների ու նրանց զավակների վերաբերյալ հարցման արդյունքները ներկայացնելիս, հայտնեց ՄԱԿ-ի Բնակչության հիմնադրամի «Օժանդակ ություն բնակչության հարցերով քաղաքականությունների իրականացմանը» ծրագրի համակարգող Աննա Հովհաննիսյանը:

«Հարցումն իրականացվել է Գյումրու, Երևանի թիվ 1, Նորքի ինտերնատներում բնակվող բոլոր տարեցների շրջանում: Երեխա ունեցող հարցվածների 72%-ն ունի տղա երեխա՝ 365 որդի, որոնցից 221-ը՝ 61%, ընդհանրապես չեն այցելում իրենց ծնողներին: Չայցելող զավակների տոկոսը կավելանար, եթե մենք ավելացնեինք այն տղա երեխաներին, ովքեր գալիս են ծնողներին այցելության միայն կենսթոշակի ստացման օրը՝ այն վերցնելու նպատակով», - ցավով նշեց  Աննա Հովհաննիսյանը:

«Օժանդակություն բնակչության հարցերով քաղաքականությունների իրականացմանը» ծրագրի համակարգողը հավելեց, որ նշված երեք ծերանոցների բնակիչներից 354-ն դուստր ունեցող մարդիկ էին, որոնցից 173-ի աղջիկներն ընդհանրապես չեն այցելում իրենց ծնողներին՝ 49%:

«Ներկայացված թվերը վկայում են այն մասին, որ տարեցները ինտերնատներում են հայտնվում գրեթե հավասարապես` թե' տղա, թե' աղջիկ ունենալու դեպքում»,- հավելեց Աննա Հովհաննիսյանը:

1990թ. ՄԱԿ-ի Գլխավոր ասամբլեայի որոշմամբ՝ հոկտեմբերի 1-ը սահմանվել է Տարեցների միջազգային օր (International Day of Older Persons):
