Հայաստանի Հանրապետության Նախագահ Սերժ Սարգսյանը ԱՄՆ Նախագահ Բարաք Օբամայի հետ  քննարկել է հայ-ամերիկյան հարաբերությունների, Լեռնային Ղարաբաղի հակամարտության հետ կապված  և երկկողմ հետաքրքրություն ներկայացնող այլ հարցեր: Այս մասին ՀՀԿ գործադիր մարմնի նիստից հետո լրագրողների հետ հանդիպմանը նշեց ՀՀԿ խոսնակ, ԱԺ փոխնախագահ էդուարդ Շարմազանովը՝  պատասխանելով հարցին, թե ինչ հարցեր են քննարկել ՀՀ և ԱՄՆ նախագահները Նյու Յորքում կայացած կարճ հանդիպման ժամանակ:

«Տեղի է ունեցել կարճատև հանդիպում, որի ընթացքում քննարկվել են հայ-ամերիկյան հարաբերությունները, Լեռնային Ղարաբաղի հիմնահարցը: Մենք բարձր ենք գնահատում Ամերիկայի Միացյալ Նահանգների, ինչպես նաև մնացած համանախագահ երկրների ջանքերը՝ միտված Լեռնային Ղարաբաղի խաղաղ կարգավորմանը»,- ընդգծեց Շարմազանովը:

Նա նկատեց, որ հայ-ամերիկյան հարաբերություններն ավելի լայն են, քան Լեռնային Ղարաբաղի հակամարտության խաղաղ կարգավորման հարցում ԱՄՆ-ի հետ համագործակցությունը՝ հավելելով, որ Հայաստանը շահագրգռված է ԱՄՆ-ի հետ հարաբերություններտը խորացնելու հարցում:
