Սիրիայի Լաթաքիա նահանգում ռուսական ռազմաբազայի ստեղծումը թույլ է տալիս տեղի բնակչությանը իրեն ավելի պաշտպանված զգալ: Ինչպես հաղորդում է Արմենպրեսը` վկայակոչելով ՏԱՍՍ-ը, այս մասին լրագրողների հետ զրույցում ասել է Լաթաքիայի նահանգապետ Իբրահիմ Սալիմը: «Ռուսական  օդուժի ներկայության պայմաններում մարդիկ սկսեցին իրենց ավելի պաշտպանված զգալ: Նրանց մոտ հույս արթանացավ, որ կարելի է հաղթել ահաբեկիչներին: Այդ պատճառով մենք ողջունում ենք մեզ մոտ ռուսական ռազմական բազայի ստեղծումը»,- ասել է Սալիմը:

Նա վստահություն է հայտնել, որ ռուսական օդուժի օգնությամբ սիրիական բանակի գործողությունները ցամաքում և ջրային տարածքներում հանգեցնելու են ահաբեկիչների նկատմամբ լիակատար հաղթանակի և հայրենիքի ազատագրմանը: Նա հայտարարել է, որ դա նոր ճանապարհ կբացի ողջ աշխարհի զարգացման համար:

Նա նաև հայտնել է, որ այս պահին Սիրիայի այլ տարածքներից Լաթաքիա է տեղափոխվել շուրջ 1.5 միլիոն մարդ: «Մենք փորձել ենք տեղավորել նրանց, աշխատանք գտնել նրանց համար, նրանց երեխաների համար դպրոցում և համալսարանում սովորելու հնարավորություններ ստեղծել: Ոմանց մենք ապրելու տեղեր ենք տրամադրել հանգստյան տներում, ոմանք ապրում են իրենց հարազատների տներում կամ պարզապես սրտացավ մարդկանց բնակարաններում: 70 հազար մարդ ապրում է փախստականների համար նախատեսված ժամանակավոր կացարաններում»,- ասել է նահանգապետը:

Նա շնորհակալություն է հայտնել Ռուսաստանին գրոհայինների դեմ պայքար սկսելու համար՝ վստահություն հայտնելով, որ ռուսական ավիացիայի օդային հարվածները գորահայինների դիրքերին նրանց մոտ խուճապ է առաջացրել:
