Ալեքսանդր Լիտվինենկոյի սպանությունը ամենահայտնիներից է, որը կապվում է Վլադիմիր Պուտինի անվան հետ: Ալեքսանդր Լիտվինենկոն մահացավ 2006 թվականին Լոնդոնում ծանր մետաղների թունավորումից: Ինչպես տեղեկացնում էին միջազգային լրատվամիջոցները, նման մետաղներ պարունակող թույն օգտագործում են ՌԴ հատուկ ծառայությունները: Նա աղմկահարույց «ФСБ-ն պայթեցնումէ Ռուսաստանը» գրիքի հեղինակն էր: Գիրքը բացահայտում էր այնպիսի գաղտնիքներ, որոնք ձեռնտու չէին Վլադիմիր Պուտինին և իրեն ծնած համակարգին:

1995 թվականի մարտի 1-ին հայտնի ռուս լրագրող Վլադիսլավ Լիստեևը սպանվեց իր տան շքամուտքի մոտ: Այդ ժամանակ նա ռուսական առաջատար հեռուստաընկերություններից մեկի ОРТ-ի գլխավոր տնօրենն էր: Սպանությունից հետո հրապարակվեցին հոդվածներ, որտեղ նշվում էր, որ լրագրողի սպանությունը իրականացվել է քաղաքական նպատակներով: Տարիներ անց փախուստի մեջ գտնվող ռուս գործարար Բորիս Բերեզովսկին հայտարարեց, որ սպանության պատվիրատուն եղել է Վլադիմիր Պուտինը:

2006 թվականի հոկտեմբերի 7-ին իր իր բնակարանի վերելակում սպանվեց մեկ այլ հայտնի ռուս լրագրող Աննա Պոլիտկովսկայան: Լրագրողը բավական ակտիվ հասարակական գործունեությամբ էր զբաղված և մեծ ուշադրություն էր դարձնում Չեչնիայի շուրջ ստեղծված իրավիճակին: Նա սենսացիոն մի քանի հրապարակումներ ունի չեչենական խնդրի մասին, որոնք ապշեցրել էին շատերին: Նա հրապարակել էր հոդվածներ, որոնք բացահատում էին Ռուսաստանում կազմակերպված մի քանի ահաբեկչությունների իրական կազմակերպիչներին: Այդ ահաբեկչությունների հետքերը տանում էին դեպի ՌԴ հատուկ ծառայություններ: Ի դեպ լրագրողը սպանվել է Պուտինի ծննդյան օրը:
