Նեպալի Քաթմանդուի շրջանի Կագատի գյուղում 15-ամյա Բիշալը նվերներ է ընդունում հյուրերից, մինչ 16-ամյա Սուրիտան ձանձրացած նստած է իրենց նոր տանը (հունվար 29, 2007թ.): Նեպալում անչափահասների վաղ ամուսնությունը վտանգավոր ավանդույթ է: Հինդու ընտանիքները հավատացած են, որ աղջիկներն օրհնվում են, եթե մինչև առաջին ցիկլի սկսվելն ամուսնանում են:

Իրենց տանը ամուսնական արարողությունից առաջ՝ 2005թ.-ի սեպտեմբերի 11-ին, 40-ամյա Ֆաիզը և 11-ամյա Ղուլամը նստած են Աֆղանստանի գյուղերից մեկում: Ղուլամը պատմել է, որ ցանկանում էր ուսուցիչ դառնալ, նրա սիրած առարկան դարիերենն էր` տեղի լեզուն, սակայն նա ստիպված էր ամուսնանալ, իսկ ամուսնացած աղջիկները հազվադեպ են շարունակում դպրոց հաճախել: Դժվար է ասել հստակ թիվը, սակայն կանանց պաշտպանության հասարակական կազմակերպությունների համաձայն, աֆղան աղջիկների մոտ 57 տոկոսը ամուսնանում են մինչև 16 տարեկանը լրանալը: Աղջիկները դպրոցից հանվում են այն պահից, երբ նրանց հայրը ամուսնության իր համաձայնությունը տալիս է: Վաղ ամուսնությունների հետևանքով ժամանակից շուտ հղիությունները բարդություններ են առաջացնում անչափահասների մոտ:
