Երեկ Հայաստան–Սփյուռք խորհրդաժողովի ընթացքում Մեծի Տանն Կիլիկիո կաթողիկոս Ն.Ս.Օ.Տ.Տ. Արամ կաթողիկոսը հայտարարեց, որ դիմելու է Թուրքիայի սահմանադրական դատարան՝ կաթողիկոսության՝ Կիլիկիայի պատմական հայկական թագավորության տարածքում գտնվող Սիսի նստավայրը և կալվածքները վերադարձնելու պահանջով: Թե որքանո՞վ կարող է այս քայլը գործնական նշանակություն ունենալ, և ի՞նչ քայլեր պետք է սպասել Թուրքիայից Orer.am-ը զրուցեց ԳԱԱ պատմության ինստիտուտի տնօրեն Աշոտ Մելքոնյանի հետ: Պատմաբանն ասաց, որ համակարծիք է Արամ կաթողիկոսի հետ, որ Թուրքիայի սահմանադրական դատարանի կողմից մերժում ստանալու դեպքում էլ հայկական կողմը շահող դուրս կգա.«Եթե մենք դատը տանուլ տանք, նույնիսկ այդ դեպքում շահած կլինենք, որովհետև Հայոց ցեղասպանության դիմաց հատուցում պահանջելու մեր նոր քաղաքական ուղեգիծն աշխարհով մեկ կհրապարակվի, որովհետև միչև հիմա հանրությանը հակված էր դեպի ճանաչման գործընթացը, հիմա հակված է դեպի պահանջատիրական գործընթացը»: Պատմաբանը նշեց, որ ինքը մեկ տասնամյակից ավել է, որ ասում է` ճանաչման գործընթացի մասին այլևս պետք չէ խոսել, որովհետև Ցեղասպանությունը ճանաչված խնդիր է: Ըստ Մելքոնյանի` հիմա խնդիրը հատուցումը պետք է լինի. «Առաջին հերթին Հայաստանի Առաքելական եկեղեցին յուրովի հատուցման պահանջն առաջ տանելու մեթոդներ է գտնում և դրանցից մեկը Մեծի Տանն Կիլիկիո կաթողիկոսությունը ետ պահանջելն է»: Պատմաբանը նաև նշեց, որ Սիսի կաթողիկոսարանի շենքը մինչ այժմ կանգուն է և տեղի բնակիչներից մեկն այն վերածել է ռեստորանի, Սիսն էլ կոչվում է Կոզան: Մելքոնյանն ասաց. «Գույքի խնդիրը պահանջատիրական հարցերից մեկն է, և ես գտնում եմ, որ իրատեսական պահանջ է դրված մարդու իրավունքների և գույքի սեփականության պաշտպանության համար: Թուրքիայի սահմանադրական դատարան դիմելը կարող է առաջին աստիճանը լինել»: Հարցին, թե ինչպիսի՞ն կլինի Թուրքիայի արձագանքը Աշոտ Մելքոնյանը պատասխանեց. «Թուրքիայի իշխանությունները կփնտրեն ինչ-որ ձևեր դրանից խուսափելու համար: Հիմա էլ թուրքական մամուլում շրջանառվում է այն ձևակերպումը, թե հայերի գույքների հետ կապված յուրաքանչյուր խնդիր ներկայիս Թուրքիայի հետ որևէ առնչություն չունի, որովհետև այդ ամենը տեղի է ունեցել Օսմանյան կայսրությունում: Բայց դա ծիծաղելի է, որովհետև միջազգային իրավունքում գոյունթուն ունի իրավահաջորդ լինելը: Այսինքն` ցանկացած կայսրություն երբ փլուզվում է միջազգային ասպարեզում անպայմանորեն այդ երկրի իրավահաջորդը գտնվում է: Օսմանյան կայսրության իրավահաջորդը Թուրքիայի Հանրապետությունն է, Խորհրդային միության իրավահաջորդը Ռուսաստանն է... Այնպես որ Թուրքիայի ձևակերպումն ու խուսափոխականությունը ծիծաղելի է»: Բեթղեհեմ Արաբյան
