Թեեւ Ադրբեջանը վերածվում է Արեւմուտքի ռազմավարական կարեւոր էներգետիկ գործընկերոջ, սակայն դա այդ երկրին սեփական խնդիրները լուծելու դիվանագիտական առավելություն չի տալիս:

Այս մասին գրում է իսրայելական Haaretz թերթը` մեջբերելով Հայֆայի համալսարանի դասախոս եւ Ջոն Հոփքինսի համալսարանի գիտաշխատող Ավինոամ Իդանի հոդվածը, որում վերջինս շեշտում է, թե «արեւմտյան միջնորդները երկար տարիների ընթացքում ապացուցել են, որ Ադրբեջանի էներգետիկական հնարավորությունները նրան աշխարհաքաղաքական առավելություն կամ արտոնություն չեն տալիս»:

«Եվրոպան, որը ձգտում էր նվազեցնել իր կախվածությունը ռուսաստանյան էներգակիրներից, Բաքվին համարել է կարեւոր խաղացող, երբ 2005 թվականին սկսեցին գործել Ադրբեջանից գազատարներն ու նավթային խողովակաշարերը: ԱՄՆ-ի վարչակազմը եւս կարեւոր դեր խաղաց էներգակիրների արտահանման ոլորտում նախագծերն առաջ տանելու գծով ադրբեջանական իշխանությունների պրոպագանդման մեջ:

Դա Բաքվին առիթ էր տալիս հուսալ, որ նման համագործակցությունը կամրապնդի Արեւմուտքում իր դիվանագիտական դիրքերը», -գրում է հեղինակը` ընդգծելով, որ «սակայն Բաքուն այդպես էլ որեւէ առավ ելություն չունեցավ ղարաբաղյան հակամարտության լուծման հարցում»:

Թերթը նշում է, որ էներգակիրների արտահանումը երկրներին դիվանագիտական լծակներ չի տալիս եւ չի օժանդակում նրանց անվտանգությանը կամ միջազգային հարաբերություններին:
