Ադրբեջանում ապրում են մեծ թվով ճնշված բնիկ ազգություններ: Այս մասին «Ադրբեջանական հանրապետության բնիկ ժողովուրդները իրականություն և հեռանկարներ» խորագրով քննարկումից առաջ լրագրողների հետ զրույցում նշեց «Մոդուս վիվենդի» կենտրոնի ղեկավար Արա Պապյանը:  

«Եթե մեզ չի հաջողվում մեր հարևան պետություններից երկուսի հետ բարեկամական հարաբերություններ հաստատել, գոնե այդ պետությունների ներսում ապրող ժողովուրդների ու կրոնական խմբերի հետ պետք է մենք բարեկամանանք: Հիմա Ադրբեջանում ապրում են մեծաթիվ բնիկ ժողովուրդներ, այսինքն՝ մի քանի հարյուր հազարից  մինչև 2 միլիոն յուրաքանչյուր խումբը: Եվ, բնականաբար, ճիշտ է երկխոսության մեջ մտնել այդ ժողովուրդների հետ և ասել, որ մենք իրենց հետ խնդիր չունենք: Նրանք հասկանում են, որ անիմաստ է հանուն ճնշողի մեր դեմ կռվել»,-«Արմենպրես»-ի փոխանցմամբ` նշեց Արա Պապյանը:  

«Մոդուս վիվենդի» կենտրոնի ղեկավարի խոսքով` բնիկ ժողովուրդներից թալիշները ժամանակին փորձ են արել ստեղծելու սեփական պետությունը:

«Քննարկումներն օգնում են, որ առաջին հերթին նրանց ինքնագիտակցությունն է բարձրանա: Մենք նրանց համար գրքեր ենք տպել: Այդ հնարավորությունը նրանք Ադրբեջանում չունեն: Այնտեղ մեծանում է բնիկ ժողովուրդների թիվը, ովքեր հասկանում են, որ մենք եղբայրական ժողովուրդ ենք»,-շեշտեց նա:

Արա Պապյանի խոսքով` հստակ վիճակագրություն չկա, սակայն Ադրբեջանի տվյալներով` այնտեղ բնակվում է 200 հազարից պակաս թալիշ, իսկ ԱՄՆ-ը թալիշների թիվը 1,5 միլիոն է գնահատում:  

Կովկաս-կասպիական տարածաշրջանի բնիկ ժողովուրդների ինստիտուտը և «Մոդուս վիվենդի» կենտրոնը կազմակերպել են կլոր սեղան քննարկում, որի թեման է «Ադրբեջանական հանրապետության բնիկ ժողովուրդները իրականություն և հեռանկարներ»: Քննարկմանը մասնակցում են նաև փոքրամասնությունների ներկայացուցիչներ Ադբրեջանից:
