ԱՄՆ Կոնգրեսի Հայաստանի աջակցության խմբի համանախագահներ Ֆրենկ Փալոնեն (դեմոկրատ) և Ռոբերտ Դոլդը (հանրապետական) ԱՄՆ Կոնգրեսի անդամներին ուղղված նամակում կոչ են արել աջակցել Հայաստանին և Լեռնային Ղարաբաղին 2017թ. ֆինանսական տարում օգնության ավելացմանն ուղղված իրենց ջանքերին։

Ինչպես հաղորդում է Արմենպրեսը, կոնգրեսականներին ուղղված նամակում նրանք առաջարկում են աջակցել ՀՀ-ին և ԼՂՀ-ին տրամադրվող արտաքին օգնության 7 առաջնահերթ ուղղությունների: Մասնավորապես, առաջարկվում է առնվազն 5 մլն դոլար հատկացնել Լեռնային Ղարաբաղում հումանիտար և կայուն զարգացման ծրագրերի համար, իսկ առնվազն 40 մլն դոլար՝ Հայաստանի տնտեսական օգնության համար (ներառյալ Տնտեսական աջակցության հիմնադրամի, թմրամիջոցների շրջանառության դեմ միջազգային պայքարի և առողջապահության միջազգային ծրագրերի շրջանակ ներում):

Այնուհետև առաջարկվում է կասեցնել Ադրբեջանին ռազմական օգնության տրամադրումը, քանի դեռ վերջինս չի դադարեցրել սահմանային հարձակումները, պատերազմի սպառնալիքներ հնչեցնելը և չի համաձայնել հակամարտության խաղաղ կարգավորման սկզբունքների պահպանմանը: Առաջարկվում է նաև աջակցություն տրամադրել Սիրայում բնակվող հայերին, ինչպես նաև Հայաստանին՝ ՀՀ տեղափոխված սիրիահայ փախստականների օգնության համար, Վրաստանին տրամադրվող օգնության 10 տոկոսը հատկացնել Սամցխե-Ջավախքի տարածաշրջանում կայուն աշխատատեղերի ստեղծման նպատակին, ինչպես նաև սահմանափակեÕ ¬ Ադրբեջանին ամերիկյան աջակցության սահմանափակման 907-րդ բանաձևի կասեցման հարցում ԱՄՆ նախագահի իրավասությունը: Ընդգծվում է նաև Մինսկի խմբի շրջանակներում Լեռնային Ղարաբաղի Հանրապետության՝ որպես բանակցող կողմի վերականգնման կարևորությունը, հաղորդել է ԱՄՆ Հայ դատի հանձնախումբը:
