ԱՄՆ-ի Կոնգրեսը հավանություն է տվել Ուկրաինային պաշտպանական նպատակների համար 250 մլն դոլարի չափով լրացուցիչ օգնության տրամադրմանը, հայտնել է պաշտպանության փոխնախարար Մայքլ Կարպենտերը, որը պատասխանատու է Ռուսաստանի, Ուկրաինայի եւ Եվրասիայի համար: 

Նրա խոսքով, Դոնբասում հակամարտության սկզբից ի վեր, Միացյալ Նահանգները Կիեւին արդեն 265 մլն դոլարի օգնություն են տրամադրել: «Մենք համագործակցել ենք մարզումային ծրագրերում եւ սարքավորումներ ենք տրամադրել` ռադարային սարքերից մինչեւ գիշերային տեսողության լրակազմեր,  կապի իջոցներ,  ավտոմոբիլային տեխնիկա, պարեկային նավակներ: Նպատակն ուկրաինական ուժերին երկրի ինքնուրույն պաշտպանությանն ավելի ընդունակ դարձնելն է», — ասել է Կարպենտերը  «Ամերիկայի ձայն» ռադիոկայանին տված հարցազրույցում:

Պատասխանելով այն հարցին, թե ԱՄՆ-ն  մինչ այժմ Կիեւին չի աջակցել մահաբեր զենքի առումով, Կարպենտերը նշել է, որ ամերիկյան կողմն առանց այն էլ շատ բան է արել Ուկրաինայի համար: 

Global Research լրատվական գործակալության տվյալների համաձայն, Ուկրաինային  250 մլն դոլարի տրամադրումն ամրագրված էր  ընդհանուր հատկացումների 2016-ի օրենսդրական ակտում` Consolidated Appropriations Act, Ուկրաինայի պաշտպանությանն աջակցության նախաձեռնություն` Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative բաժնում: Բացի այդ, ԱՄՆ-ը մտադիր է առնվազն  658 մլն դոլար ծախսել Ուկրաինային երկկողմ տնտեսական օգնության վրա, նշում է պարբերականը, տեղեկացնում է «ՌԻԱ Նովոստին»:
