Թուրքիայում Միացյալ Նահանգների երկու նախկին դեսպանները՝ Մորթ Աբրամովիչը և Էրիք Էդելմանն ամերիկյան The Washington Post-ում թուրքական իշխանությունների քաղաքականությունը քննադատող հոդված են հրապարակել: Ինչպես հաղորդում է Արմենպրեսը, հոդվածն ունի «Թուրքիայի Էրդողանը պետք է փոխվի կամ հրաժարական տա» խորագիրը:

Հեղինակները փաստում են, որ Էրդողանի ղեկավարությամբ Թուրքիան ավելի ու ավելի է խորանում ավտորիտարիզմի և անկայունության մեջ: Նրանք ընդգծում են, որ երբ Էրդողանն ու նրա ղեկավարած «Արդարություն և զարգացում» կուսակցությունը 2003 թվականին եկան իշխանության, տնտեսական ոլորտում և հարևանների հետ հարաբերություններում գրանցած մի շարք հաջողությունները թույլ տվեցին ենթադրելու, որ ապագայում երկիրը կդառնա տարածաշրջանում և աշխարհում ամենահզորներից մեկը: Սակայն կանխատեսումն իրականություն չդարձավ: «Այսօր Թուրքիայի ապագան շատ ավելի մռայլ է երևում: Երկիրը հզորացնելու փոխարեն Էրդողանը Թուրքիան տարավ դեպի ավտորիտարիզմ, տնտեսական աճի դանդաղեցում և քաղաքացիական պատերազմ»,- գրում են հեղինակները: Նրանք նշում են, որ իշխող կուսակցությունն ավելի ու ավելի շատ է խախտում երկրում մարդու հիմնարար իրավունքներն ու ազատությունները:

«Որպես կանոն, բռնապետ առաջնորդներն իրենց իշխանությունն արդարացնում են սեփական երկրի քաղաքացիներին կայունություն և բարգավաճում բերելու փաստով: Սակայն Թուրքիայում Էրդողանի քաղաքականությունը սեփական ժողովրդի համար անհասանելի է դարձնում այդ արժեքները: Սիրիական հակամարտությունում զինված ծայրահեղական խմբերին աջակցելուց հետո Թուրքիան այժմ վտանգավոր շրջան է ապրում այդ ահաբեկչության պատասխան գործողությունների հետևանքով: Ստամբուլում և Անկարայում իրականացված պայթյունները սարսափելի տեսարան ստեղծեցին: Այդուհանդերձ, Թուրքիան շարու նակում է պնդել, որ Սիրիայի համար իրական սպառնալիք են քրդական խմբավորումները, այլ ոչ թե «Իսլամական պետությունը» կամ «Ջաբաթ ալ-Նուսրա» խմբավորումները»,- փաստում են նախկին դեսպանները՝ ընդգծելով, որ եթե Էրդողանն իսկապես պայծառ ապագա է ցանկանում իր երկրի համար, պետք է փոխվի համ հրաժարական տա:

Հոդվածի վերաբերյալ մեկնաբանություն է արել Հայ դատի ԱՄՆ հանձնախմբի գործադիր տնօրեն Արամ Համփարյանը: «Աբրամովիչը և Էդելմանը՝ Թուրքիայի նախորդ սերնդի երկու ամենաանամոթ պաշտպանները, բացեիբաց և անգամ հպարտությամբ Անկարային թույլ են տվել ամենաաններելի հանցանքները (Հայոց ցեղասպանության հերքումը, Կիպրոսի բռնազավթումը, քրդերի զանգվածային սպանությունները, մարդու իրավունքների ոտնահարումները և այլն): Իսկ այժմ նրանք խաղում են անմեղ, վրդովված դիտորդների դերը»,- նշել է Համփարյանը:
