The 13 Designers You'll Be Dying to Wear This Fall

Lifestyle

Another fashion month has come and gone, and although many designers seemed determined to make "odd and frumpy" the look of fall 2016 — showing a steady stream of sad, shapeless sack dresses with comically pouffy shoulders — not every designer drank the dowdy Kool-Aid. Certainly not these 13.

VERSACE

Versace is always at its sexy best when the colors are bold, the silhouette is tight, and the skin is showing. Hot, hot, hot!

ISABEL MARANT

The '80s were a major source of inspiration for everyone from Saint Laurent to Chanel this season, but while many designers took a costume-y approach to the glam-rock decade, Marant's looks always felt firmly rooted in reality. Even her most fashion-forward pieces, be they zebra-printed skinnies or a black leather minidress, looked modern and cool.

ALTUZARRA

In the hands of a less skilled designer than Joseph Altuzarra, clothes this ornately embellished and richly patterned could feel overwrought or even silly. Instead, these were sleek, sexy, and totally badass.

ANTHONY VACCARELLO

No one cuts a shorter skirt, a higher slit, or a more plunging neckline than Anthony Vaccarello. If these clothes were any hotter, they'd be on fire.

ROBERTO CAVALLI

If there is one thing Cavalli does well, it's glam, and this collection was as glam as glam can get. The colors were rich, the metallics were sparking, and each look that came down the runway was sexier than the last.

CARVEN

"Wearability" is sometimes treated like a dirty word in fashion, but there is an art to creating clothes that actually look good and flatter the body. The silhouette at Carven never really changes that much — a trim A-line skirt, tops and dresses fitted through the bodice, and slightly boxy jackets and coats — but when you've got a good thing going, why mess with it?

COACH

The Coach of Snooki and JWoww is long gone at this point, and in its place is a quirky-cool fashion brand churning out the kinds of clothes and accessories that street-style dreams are made of.

FENDI

Even if you hate fur, you have to admit that what Fendi does with it is pretty amazing. In a season full of sad, drab sacks, Fendi's multicolored furs, playful embellishments, and frilly thigh-high boots felt fun, fresh, and very, very fabulous.

SALVATORE FERRAGAMO

The shapes were straightforward, the colors were bold, and the embellishments were minimal but impactful. In other words, just about anyone would look chic in these outfits. And there ain't nothin' wrong with that.

MISSONI

Missoni's mastery of pattern and print is undisputed, but they falter from time to time when their shapes get too out-there or their colors too muted. Luckily, that was not the case this season — the colors were saturated, the shapes were sexy, and despite a few heavy-handed styling choices, the overall look was fun and relatable.
