Թուրքական Dünya Bülteni-ի փոխանցմամբ՝ ՄԱԿ ԳԱ-ի 69-րդ նստաշրջանի աշխատանքներին մասնակցելու նպատակով Նյու Յորք մեկնած Թուրքիայի նախագահ Ռեջեփ Էրդողանը հանդիպելու է ԱՄՆ-ի հայկական ու հրեական համայնքների ներկայացուցիչների հետ: Արդյո ՞ք տեղին և անհրաժեշտ է ԱՄՆ հայ համայնքի հանդիպումը Թուրքիայի նորընտիր նախագահի հետ՝ ORER.am-ը զրուցեց քաղաքագետ Լևոն Շիրինյանի և ԳԱԱ պատմության ինստիտուտի տնօրեն Աշոտ Մելքոնյանի հետ: Լևոն Շիրինյանը սխալ և անժամանակ է համարում հայ համայնքի հանդիպումը Էրդողանի հետ. «Անժամանակ, վտանգավոր և սխալ եմ համարում ԱՄՆ-ի հայկական համայնքի՝ Թուրքիայի նախագահ Էրդողանի հետ հանդիպելու պատրաստակամությունը: Սփյուռքը Էրդողանի առաջ պայման պետք է դնի՝ Ցեղասպանությունը եթե կճանաչես կհանդիպենք, կխոսենք: Գոնե առնվազն պետք է պահանջել արևմտահայության հոծ զանգվածներին, որոնք այսօրվա սփյուռքի մասն են կազմում, վերականգնել Թուքիայի քաղաքցիությունը: Չեք վերականգնում՝ ուրեմն չենք հանդիպում: Թե չէ՝ գնալ ինչ-որ շամպայն խմել և թուրքի հետ… ոճրագործներից մեկն էլ ինքն է, եթե նա չի ընդունում Ցեղասպանությունը, ոճրագործ է էլի: Հանդիպեն, խոսեն: Ինչի ՞ մասին խոսեն: Հայաստանից պետք է դժգոհության մեսիջ գնա»: Ըստ պատմաբան Աշոտ Մելքոնյանի՝ պետք է հաշվի առնել, թե ինչ ձևաչափով է հանդիպումը կայանալու: Նրա կարծիքով ևս անհրաժեշտ է հանդես գալ պահանջատիրոջ կեցվածքով. «Դժվարանում եմ ասել, որովհետև մենք չգիտենք, թե հանդիպումն ինչ ձևաչափով է տեղի ունենալու և ինչ քաղաքական ուժեր են մասնակցելու այդ հանդիպմանը: Եթե կմասնակցեն այն ուժերը, որոնք պահանջատիրական կեցվածք ունեն՝ Թուրքիայի ղեկավարին հասկացնելու համար, որ հայկական կողմը երբեք չի լռելու և խնդիրը հասցնելու է մինչև հատուցման, ուրեմն ընդունելի է: Իսկ եթե լինելու են ուժեր, որոնք նախապես Թուրքիայի հետ համաձայնեցված պիտի խոսեն 1915- թվականի ընդհանուր ցավի մասին՝ հայերի և թուրքերի, դա մեզ համար բացարձակապես ընդունելի չէ: Ցավոք հայկական կողմում այդպիսի ուժեր ևս կան: 100-ամյակի նախաշեմին պիտք է խոսել պահանջատիրոջ կեցվածքով և հատուցման իրավունքին հասնելու տեսանկյունից »:
