Ադրբեջանական գերության մեջ սպանված Կարեն Պետրոսյանի գործը ՄԻԵԴ-ում ներկայացնող աշխատանքային խումբը երկուշաբթի' սեպտեմբերի 29-ին կդիմի կառույցին Ադրեբանից ակնկալվող պատասխանին ծանոթանալու համար: Այս մասին «Արմենպրես»-ի հետ զրույցում հայտնեց «Ընդդեմ իրավական կամայականության» ՀԿ գործադիր տնօրեն Լարիսա Ալավերդյանը: «Քանի որ այսօր (սեպտեմբերի 26) Ադբեջանի կողմից ՄԻԵԴ-ին պատասխանելու վերջին օրն է, մենք մի երկու օր կսպասենք ու երկուշաբթի կդիմենք նույն մարմիններին ու կտեղեկանանք, թե ինչ պատասխան է տրվել»,- հայտնեց Լարիսա Ալավերդյանը:
Ինչ վերաբերում է Մամիկոն Խոջոյանի գործով հայցին, դեռ որևէ պատասխան չկա, քանի որ, Լարիսա Ալավերդյանի հավաստմամբ, այն բավականին երկար գործընթաց է: «Ի տարբերություն 39-րդ հոդվածով գործընթացին, որի պատասխանը տալիս են գրեթե անմիջապես, այս մեկը երկար է տևում, մինչև անգամ հայցը ընդունել-չընդունելու պատասխանը ստանալը բավականաչափ երկար գործընթաց է»,-հավելեց Լարիսա Ալավերդյանը:
2014թ. սեպտեմբերի 10-ին Ադրբեջանում գերության մեջ սպանված Կարեն Պետրոսյանի ընտանիքը ներկայացնող աշխատանքային խումբը դիմել է Մարդու իրավունքների եվրոպական դատարան (ՄԻԵԴ)' դատարանի կանոնագրքի 39-րդ կանոնի հիմքով խնդրելով ՄԻԵԴ միջամտությունը Պետրոսյանի դին անհապաղ և անվնաս վիճակում ընտանիքին վերադարձնելու նպատակով:
Սեպտեմբերի 12-ին ՄԻԵԴ-ը խնդրել է Ադրբեջանի կառավարությունից բացատրություններ ներկայացնել «Կարեն Պետրոսյանի մարմնի վերադարձման հարցի առնչությամբ Ադրբեջանի պաշտոնական դիրքորոշման և դին ընտանիքին վերադարձնելու ձգձգումների պատճառների մասին», մինչև սույն թվականի սեպտեմբերի 26-ը:
Պետրոսյան ընտանիքի շահերը ներպետական վարույթներում և ՄԻԵԴ-ում ներկայացնելու նպատակով աշխատանքային խմբում ներգրավվել են մարդու իրավունքների միջազգային իրավունքի ոլորտի փորձագետներ:
Պետրոսյանը Հայաստանի հյուսիսարևելյան սահմանամերձ գյուղի բնակիչ էր: Նա սխալմամբ հայտնվելով Ադրբեջանի տարածքում, գերեվարվել էր օգոստոսի 7-ին: Ադրբեջանի իշխանությունները լրատվամիջոցներին տրամադրել էին ցնցող պատկերներ, թե ինչպես են դիմակավոր զինվորները նրան քարշ տալով տանում և բիրտ ուժի գործադրմամբ նրան պարտադրում ներում հայցել Ադրբեջանի նախագահից: Մեկ օր անց Ադրբեջանի պաշտպանության նախարարությունը հայտարարեց, որ Պետրոսյանը «հանկարծամահ» էր եղել «սրտանոթային անբավարարությունից»: Կարեն Պետրոսյանի մահվան հետ կապված հանգամանքները լուրջ կասկածներ են առաջացնում Ադրբեջանի իշխանությունների կողմից հայտարարված Պետրոսյանի մահվան պատճառների շուրջ:
