Բեռլինում Գերմանիայի կանցլեր Անգելա Մերկելի հետ հանդիպմանը հաջորդած համատեղ ասուլիսում ՀՀ Նախագահ Սերժ Սարգսյանը հայտարարել է, որ Լեռնային Ղարաբաղի հակամարտության գոտում երեք օրվա ռազմական գործողությունները ցույց տվեցին` ուժը զինատեսակի ժամանակակից լինելու և տանկերի թվի մեջ չէ: «Ադրբեջանը երևի թե ունի ավելի ժամանակակից զինատեսակներ, և այս երեք օրվա ռազմական գործողությունները ցույց տվեցին, որ իրոք այդ զինատեսակները գործում են: Բայց ուժը զինատեսակի ժամանակակից լինելու մեջ չէ, ավելի ճիշտ, ամբողջովին դրա մեջ չէ, ուժը տանկերի թվի մեջ չէ, այլ այն հավատի մեջ, որ կա ղարաբաղցիների և ընդհանրապես հայ ժողովրդի մեջ, որն ամեն գնով պաշտպանելու է իր հայրենիքը: Այո, մենք հիմնականում կռվում ենք 1980-ական թվականների զենքով, բայց այս երեք օրվա կոնֆլիկտը ցույց տվեց, թե ով ինչպես է կռվում, թե ադրբեջանցիներն ինչքան կորուստներ ունեն, և մենք ինչքան ունենք, թե մենք ինչպես ենք վերաբերում մեր կորուստներին` մեր հասարակությանն ամեն վայրկյան անգ ամ տեղեկացնելով ինչ կորուստ ունենք, քանի մարդ է զոհվել, քանիսը վիրավորվել, քանի տեխնիկա ենք կորցրել: Իսկ փորձեք Ադրբեջանում մի այդպիսի տեղեկություն գտնել. չեք կարող: Գիտեք, պատերազմը շատ վատ բան է, ես նորություն չեմ ասում: Բայց մյուս կողմից այս երեք օրերի պարետազմը ցույց տվեց, որ ազատ հասարակությունում ավելի հեշտ է կռվել, քանի որ ժողովրդի սատարումն ամենամեծ բանն է: Ուժը դրա մեջ է»,-ընդգծել է ՀՀ Նախագահը:

Անդրադառնալով Ռուսաստանի կողմից Ադրբեջանին զենք վաճառելու փաստին` Սերժ Սարգսյանն ասել է. «Ռուսաստանը մեր ռազմավարական դաշնակիցն է, և մենք գտնվում ենք անվտանգության նույն համակարգում` ՀԱՊԿ-ում: Բնական է, որ մենք ցավ ենք զգում, երբ Ռուսաստանը, և ոչ միայն Ռուսաստանը, այլև այդ կառույցի անդամ մյուս երկրները զենք են վաճառում Ադրբեջանին: Բայց շատ լավ հասկանում եք, որ մեր հնարավորությունները սահմանափակ են ազդելու այդ գործընթացի վրա»:
