CIS co-chairing countries’ FMs: All steps should be taken to stabilize Karabakh situation
PoliticsForeign ministers of the co-chairing countries in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) have called upon the parties to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict to maintain ceasefire and take measures to stabilize the situation.
The aforesaid is noted in a statement by these FMs.
“The CIS is deeply concerned by the messages about the armed clashes at the Line of Contact of the Karabakh conflict zone,” the statement specifically reads. “We call on the parties to the conflict to strictly observe the regime of cessation of military actions, and to exercise restraint to prevent new human casualties.
“It is indispensable to take all possible measures, as quickly as possible, to stabilize the situation and intensify the efforts to pacifically settle the conflict, based on the principles which the OSCE [i.e. the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe] Minsk Group Co-Chairs have outlined.”
This statement was issued at Friday’s Moscow session of the Council of CIS Foreign Ministers.
