 Հռոմի Ֆրանցիսկոս պապը Վատիկանում ողջունել Է Չեռնոբիլի ԱԷԿ-ի վթարի մի խումբ լիկվիդատորների, որոնք Ուկրաինայից եւ Բելառուսից Հռոմ են ժամանել չեռնոբիլյան ողբերգության 30-րդ տարելիցին նվիրված խորհրդաժողովի կապակցությամբ, տեղեկացնում Է «Արմենպրես»-ը: 

«Կրկին ու կրկին աղոթելով այդ վթարի զոհերի համար, մենք մեր շնորհակալությունն ու երախտագիտությունն ենք հայտնում փրկարարներին նրանց կատարած բոլոր գործողությունների համար, որոնցով նրանք ջանացել են մեղմել տառապանքներն ու նվազեցնել վնասները»,- հայտարարել Է Հռոմի կաթոլիկ եկեղեցու ղեկավարը ապրիլի 20-ին Վատիկանում կայացած ավանդական համընդհանուր ունկնդրության ընթացքում:

Չեռնոբիլի ատոմային Էլեկտրակայանում վթարը տեղի Է ունեցել 1986 թվականի ապրիլի 26-ին. պայթել Էր կայանի չորրորդ Էներգաբլոկը: Ռադիացիոն աղտոտման ընդհանուր մակերեսը Բելառուսում կազմել Է շուրջ 46,5 հազար քառակուսի կիլոմետր (ընդհանուր տարածքի 23 տոկոսը): Ուկրաինայում 12 մարզերում աղտոտվել Է  50 հազար քառակուսի կիլոմետր տարածք: Բացի այդ, ռադիոակտիվ աղտոտումից տուժել Էին Ռուսաստանի գրեթե 60 հազար քառակուսի կիլոմետր տարածությամբ եւ 2,6 մլն բնակչությամբ 19 տարածաշրջաններ, հաղորդել Է ՌԻԱ Նովոստի գործակալությունը:
