Վերջին երկու շաբաթվա ընթացքում Հնդկաստանում մահացել է ավելի քան 220 մարդ. 256 շրջաններում 330 միլիոնից ավելի մարդ խմելու ջրի սուր պակասություն է զգում: Դա կազմում է երկրի բնակչության մեկ քառորդը:Այդ մա սին գրել է ՏԱՍՍ-ը՝ հղում տալով Հնդկաստանի Առողջապահության նախարարությանը:

Երկրի հարավային նահանգներում՝ Օդիշյեյում, Թելանհանում և Անդհրա Պրադեշում իրավիճակն ամենից շատ է սրված՝ այնտեղ շոգից 220-ից ավելի մահացածներ կան: Օդիշյեում վերջին հինգ օրերի ընթացքում ջերմաստիճանը շարունակաբար աճել է և շաբաթ օրը հասել ռեկորդայինի՝ 47,5 աստիճանի ըստ Ցելսիուսի:
Անտանելի շոգը տիրում է գրեթե ողջ Հնդկաստանում:

Հնդկաստանի առողջապահության նախարարությունը հայտնում է, որ 2016 թ. ամառը կարող է վերջին 100 տարում ամենաշոգը դառնալ. երկրի հարավում ջերմաստիճանը կարող է գերազանցել 48 աստիճանն ըստ Ցելսիուսի:

Իրավիճակը վատթարացրել է վերջին երկու տարվա մեջ մուսոնային տեղումների կրիտիկական ցածր քանակով պայմանավորված: Նախորդ տարվա դժբախտությունից խուսափելու համար կառավարությունը երկրի ամենաշոգ շրջաններում հայտարարել է արտակարգ իրավիճակ: 2015 թ. անոմալ շոգից մահացել էր 2 հազար մարդ:
