 Վերջին մոտավորապես հիսուն տարվա ընթացքում ամերիկյան առաջին զբոսանավը Կուբա է ուղեւորվել Մայամի քաղաքից (Ֆլորիդայի նահանգ): Carnival Corporation ընկերության նավը, ինչպես հայտնել են նրա ներկայացուցիչները, մայիսի 1-ին մեկշաբաթյա ճանապարհորդություն է սկսել, որի ընթացքում այն կմտնի Ազատության կղզու տարբեր նավահանգիստներ:

Carnival-ի գլխավոր տնօրեն Առնոլդ Դոնալդը Մայամիում կայացած մամուլի ասուլիսում հայտարարել է, որ զբոսանավի ուղեւորների թվում կան Կուբայից սերվածներ եւ կղզում ծնված ամերիկացիներ: Ֆիրմայի ղեկավարի խոսքով՝ ներկայիս ուղերթը «պատմական նշանակություն ունի» եւ «շատ դրական ազդեցություն» է գործում երկու երկրների հասարակության վրա:

Այս ճանապարհորդությունը առաջինը կդառնա այն ուղեւորությունների շարքում, որը Carnival-ը կազմակերպում է երկու երկրների միջեւ մշակութային փոխանակությանն աջակցելու նպատակով: Ենթադրվում է, որ ուղերթները կիրականացվեն ամսական երկու անգամ: Ճամփորդության տոմսի արժեքը կազմում է 1800-ից մինչեւ 7000 դոլար:

Նախանցյալ շաբաթ Կուբայի կառավարությունը հանել է ԱՄՆ-ի հետ կուբացիների ծովային հաղորդակցության սահմանափակումները:

Ավելի վաղ ԱՄՆ-ը եւ Կուբան ամերիկյան ղեկավարության նախաձեռնությամբ վերականգնել են դիվանագիտական հարաբերությունները: Մարտին նախագահ Բարաք Օբաման այցելել է Կուբա, որտեղ բանակցություններ է վարել այդ երկրի ղեկավար Ռաուլ Կաստրոյի հետ: 2014 թվականին երկու երկրներն իրենց դեսպանություններն են բացել համապատասխանաբար Վաշինգտոնում եւ Հավանայում, հաղորդել Է ՏԱՍՍ-ը:
