Այսօր Գյումրու Վազգեն  Առաջինի անվան թիվ 27 դպրոցի դասասենյակներից մեկն անվանակոչվեցին քառօրյա պատերազմի առաջին նահատակի՝ ապրիլի 1-ին Թալիշի պաշտպանության ժամանակ զոհված 20-ամյա Վլադիմիր Մելքոնյանի անունով, գրում է Aravot.am-ը:

Դպրոցի զինղեկը՝ Գարեգին Ջամբազյանը, հիշում է, որ Վլադիմիրն առանձնապես չէր սիրում սովորել, բարձր գնահատականների հետևից ընկնող չէր, բայց նրա հետ մրցակցել հնարավոր չէր հայրենասիրությամբ: «Հայրենասիրական ոգին նրա մոտ շատ բարձր էր, նաև ֆիզիկապես լավ պատրաստված  տղա էր, դասերից դուրս ինձ անընդհատ հարցեր էր տալիս թե՛ իմ՝ Արցախում 90-ականն թվականներին լինելու հետ կապված, թե՛ պատերազմից դուրս թեմաներով: Ինձ հանգիստ չէր տալիս, գալիս էր, թե ընկեր Ջամբազյան, խնդրում եմ, էլի, ավտոմատը բերեք քանդեմ, հավաքեմ, տալիս էի ավտոմատը ու մեկ էլ հարցնում էր՝ լա՞վ կքանդեմ, հավաքեմ չէ՞: Ասում էի՝ հա Վլադիմիր ջան, շատ լավ է: Իր հայրը նույնպես արցախյան պատերազմի մասնակից է եղել, գեները երևի նշանակություն ունեն, դաստիարակությունն էլ քիչ նշանակություն չունի, ես մենակ ինձ չեմ գովաբանում, նման հայրենասիրությամբ երեխա դաստիարակելը  ուսուցիչների աշխատանքի արդյունքն է: Եղբայրը Տավուշի մարզում էր ծառայել, իսկ ինքը ուզում էր անպայման Արցախ մեկնել, թեև հնարավորություն ուներ եղբոր մոտ ծառայելու: Ականատես- ընկերների պատմելով, խրամատներում առանց զենքի չորս ազերիների է գետին տապալել՝ հայերեն հայհոյելով: Ընկերներն ասում են՝ մինչև հիմա Վլադմիրի՝ թուրքին ուղղված հայհոյանքները մեր ականջների մեջ են:

Թող աշակերտները տեսնեն, թե մենք ինչ հերոս ունենք, մինչ քառասունքը նրա նկարը՝ Հայոց եռագույնը վրան, ներքևում էր խփած. առաջին, երկրորդ դասարանի աշակերտները, որոնք այդ մասով են ճաշարան գնում, ամեն անգամ նկարի մոտո անցնելիս՝ գլուխները խոնարհում էին ՝նոր անցնում, շնորհակալություն էին հայտնում իրենց հերոսին»:
