Դերասան Մարլոն Բրանդոն 47 տարեկան էր, երբ նկարահանվեց իր ամենահիշարժան ֆիլմերից մեկում։ Խոսքը ռեժիսոր Ֆրենսիս Ֆորդ Կոպոլայի «Կնքահայրը» ֆիլմի մասին է, որտեղ Բրանդոն մարմնավորեց Դոն Վիտո Կորլեոնեին։

Նրա դերը պահանջում էր ավելի տարիքով մարդու, դրա համար դիմահարդարները ստիպված էին շատ տանջվել՝ համապատասխան կերպար ստանալու համար։ 

Հենց այդ գործն իրականացնելու համար հրավիրվում է ու գործի անցնում դիմահարդարման մասնագետ Դիկ Սմիթը։ Կոպոլան դեմ էր դերը Բրանդոյին վստահելուն, քանի որ դերասանը հայտնի էր իր ագրեսիվ ու վայրի վարքագծով, բայց տեսնելով նրա խաղը, Կոպոլան առանց մտածելու դերը վստահում է հենց նրան։
