ՀՀ ՊՆ մարդու իրավունքների և բարեվարքության կենտրոնի գործառույթներին, կարողություններին և ենթակառուցվածքներին ծանոթանալու նպատակով հունիսի 28-ին պաշտպանության նախարարություն է այցելել ՀՀ-ում ԱՄՆ արտակարգ և լիազոր դեսպան Ռիչարդ Միլսի գլխավորած պատվիրակությունը:

Ինչպես տեղեկացրին ՀՀ պաշտպանության նախարարության տեղեկատվության եւ հասարակայնության հետ կապերի վարչությունից, այցելության շրջանակում հյուրերը հանդիպել են ՀՀ պաշտպանության նախարարի առաջին տեղակալ Դավիթ Տոնոյանի հետ: Հանդիպման ընթացքում քննարկվել են ՀՀ զինված ուժերում մարդու իրավունքների պաշտպանության կարողությունների և մեխանիզմների զարգացման, պաշտպանական քաղաքականության շրջանակում մարդու իրավունքների և բարեվարքության հայեցակարգերի ինտեգրման, հակակոռուպցիոն ծրագրերի մշակման հետ կապ ված հարցեր, ինչպես նաև դիտարկվել են համագործակցության նոր ուղղությունների զարգացման հնարավորությունները:

ՀՀ պաշտպանության նախարարի առաջին տեղակալ Դավիթ Տոնոյանի ուղեկցությամբ պատվիրակության անդամներն այցելել են ՀՀ ՊՆ մարդու իրավուքների և բարեվարքության կենտրոն, որտեղ ՀՀ պաշտպանության նախարարի ավագ օգնական - Կենտրոնի պետ, փոխգնդապետ Ա. Ավետիսյանը հյուրերին ներկայացրել է Կենտրոնի գործունեության հիմնական ուղղությունները:

Իր խոսքում դեսպան Միլսը նշել է. «Աշխարհով մեկ ԱՄՆ կառավարության հիմնական գերակայություններից մեկը մարդու իրավունքների ամրապնդումն է և աշխատանքը մեր գործընկերների հետ՝ մարդու իրավունքների իրացումն ու պաշտպանվածությունը բոլորի համար երաշխավորելու նպատակով: Գոհացուցիչ է տեսնել այս կարևոր հարցի շուրջ ՀՀ պաշտպանության նախարարության աշխատանքն այնպիսի գործընկերների հետ, ինչպիսիք են կրթական փորձագետները, քաղաքացիական հասարակությունը: Զինված ուժերը, որտեղ հարգում են մարդու իրավունքները, որտեղ պայքարում են կոռուպցիայի ու չարաշահու մների դեմ, ամուր է ու հզոր, և ժողովուրդը կարող է հպարտանալ իր զինված ուժերով»:
