ՄՄԿ-ն դառնում է ՄԱԿ-ի հարակից կազմակերպություն

Միավորված ազգերի կազմակերպության(ՄԱԿ) անդամ պետությունները Գլխավոր ասամբլեայի ժամանակ միաձայն ընդունել են բանաձև` հաստատելով Միգրացիայի միջազգային կազմակերպության (ՄՄԿ)՝ ՄԱԿ-ի հարակից կազմակերպություն դառնալու համաձայնագիրը:

Ինչպես տեղեկացրին  կազմակերպությունից, համաձայնագիրն ընդգծում է ՄՄԿ-ի և ՄԱԿ-ի միջև ավելի սերտ հարաբերությունները՝ ամրապնդելու համագործակցությունը և ընդլայնելու իրենց կարողությունը՝ ի շահ միգրանտների և անդամ պետությունների` իրենց մանդատներն իրականացնելու համար: Համաձայնագրի միջոցով ՄԱԿ-ը ճանաչում է ՄՄԿ-ի պարտադիր դերակատարումը մարդկային տեղաշարժի ոլորտում: Սա ներառում է միգրանտների և տեղահանվածների պաշտպանությունը տուժած համայնքներում, փախստականների վերաբնակեցումն ու կամավոր վերադարձը, ինչպես նաև միգրացիայի ներառումը պետությունների զարգացման ծրագրերում:

Սա ճանապարհ է հարթում համաձայնագրի համար, որը պետք է ստորագրվի ՄԱԿ-ի գլխավոր քարտուղար Պան-Կի Մունի և ՄՄԿ գլխավոր տնօրեն Ուիլյամ Լեյսի Սվինգի կողմից 2016 թվականի սեպտեմբերի 19-ին ՄԱԿ-ի Փախստականների և միգրանտների գագաթաժողովի ժամանակ: Գագաթնաժողովը կհամախմբի ՄԱԿ-ի անդամ պետություններին՝ փախստականների և միգրանտների մեծածավալ տեղաշարժերին ավելի մարդասեր և համակարգված մոտեցում ցուցաբերելու համար:

ՄՄԿ-ն, որն աջակցել է մոտ 20 միլիոն միգրանտների 2015 թվականի ընթացքում, միջկառավարական կազմակերպություն է՝ ավելի քան 9 հազար 500 աշխատակիցներով և 450 գրասենյակներով ամբողջ աշխարհում: Հիմնադրված լինելով Երկրորդ համաշխարհային պատերազմից հետո` Եվրոպայից փախստականներին վերաբնակեցնելու նպատակով, ՄՄԿ-ն այս տարվա դեկտեմբերին նշում է իր 65-ամյակը:
