Սիգարետից հրաժարվելը կարող է 80 տոկոսով նվազեցնել պարանոցի եւ գլխի քաղցկեղի վտանգը: Այսպիսի կարծիք են հայտնել Հնդկաստանի Հիվանդությունների հետազոտության եւ ինֆորմատիկայի ազգային  կենտրոնի գիտնականները:

Նրանց խոսքով՝ աշխարհում մասայական ախտահարման համար հզորագույն զենքը թութունն է, իսկ առողջ կենսակերպը եւ թութունից հրաժարվելը կարող է համարյա 80 տոկոսով կանխել գլխի եւ պարանոցի չարորակ ուռուցքների առաջացումը:

«Գլխի եւ պարանոցի ուռուցքների 90 տոկոսը առաջանում են յուրահատուկ գործոնների երկարատեւ ներգործության հետեւանքով. Այդպիսի գործոններ են թութունից արտադրանքի եւ ակոհոլային խմիչքների օգտագործումը: Դա բերանի խոռոչի, կոկորդի, ձայնալարերի եւ լեզվի քաղցկեղի  ամենահաճախ հանդիպող պատճառն է: Չծխողների եւ ալկոհոլ չօգատործող մարդկանց մոտ կոկորդի քաղցկեղ կարող է առաջանալ պապիլոմայի բացիլով վարակվելու դեպքում»,- պնդում են գիտնականները:

Ռաջիվ Գանդիի անվան ուռուցքաբանության հնդկական ինստիտուտի վիճակագրությամբ՝ գլխի եւ պարանոցի ուռուցքների 50 տոկոսը բաժինէ ընկնում բերանի խոռոչին: Բարեբախտաբար, այս չարորակ նորագոյացությունների մեծ մասը վաղ ախտանշաններ է երեւակում, որոնց միջոցով հնարավոր է ժամանակին այն ճանաչել, մինչ կտարածվի շրջապատող օրգանների վրա: Գլխի եւ պարանոցի ուռուցքների հաջող բուժումը կախված է վաղ ախտորոշումից:

Գիտնականները նաեւ նշել են, որ օրական մաքուր ալկոհոլի 50 գրամից ավելի օգտագործումը տղամարդկանց մոտ տվյալ տեսակի քաղցկեղի առաջացման վտանգը մեծացնում է 5-6 անգամ, իսկ օրական նույնիսկ 10-20 գրամը  էականորեն մեծացնում է նման վտանգը նաեւ կանանց մոտ: Համաշխարհային վիճակագրության տեսանկյունից գլխի եւ պարանոցի ուռուցքները աշխարհում համարվում են տարածվածությամբ 6-րդը եւ 8-րդը մահացածության մակարդակով: Այս ուռուցքների հետ բախված հիվանդների միայն 40-50 տոկոսն է կարող ախտորոշումից հետո 5 տարուց ավելի կյանքի հույս ունենալ: Ծխելը գլխի եւ պարանոցի ուռուցքների վտանգը մեծացնում է 15 անգամ: Ըստ որում՝ տղամարդիկ կանանցից 90 տոկոսով ավելի հաճախ են հիվանդանում այս հիվանդություններով եւ երկու անգամ ավելի հաճախ են մահանում: Բացառված չէ, որ այսպիսի վիճակագրությունը պայմանավորված է հենց նրանով, որ տղամարդիկ ավելի շատ եւ հաճախ են ծխում, քան կանայք:
