Մերի-Էնն Պարիզի 11-ամյա որդին հերթական անգամ դպրոցից տուն էր վերադարձել արցունքոտ աչքերով: Ֆիզիկական թերությունների պատճառով փոքրիկ Մայքլը դարձել էր իր համադասարանցիների ծաղրանքի առարկան: Բայց այս անգամ, Մայքլի մայրիկը որոշեց նամակ գրել և՛ համադասարանցիներին, և՛ նրանց ծնողներին:

Համացանցում տեղադրելով իր հաղորդագրությունը՝ կինը ոչ միայն փակեց տղային հայհոյողների և ծաղրողների բերանները, այլ նաև շատ կարևոր հարց բարձրացրեց: Կարդալով նրա գրածները՝ ուրիշների ֆիզիկական թերությունները քննադատելուց առաջ, մարդիկ երկու անգամ կմտածեն:

«Նույնիսկ աշխարհի ամենալավ մարդկանց մոտ թուլության պահեր են լինում, երբ նրանք կորցնում են ինքնավստահությունը: Որպեսզի երեխաները չհարձակվեն մյուսների վրա, պետք է սովորեցնել նրանց, ցույց տալ, թե որքան տարբեր և յուրահատուկ են յուրաքանչյուրը: Բոլորին անհրաժեշտ են այս գիտելիքները, քանի որ բոլորի մոտ էլ դժվարություններ են լինում»:

«Իմ Մայքլը ծնվել է հղիության 7-րդ ամսում: Իր կյանքի առաջին երեք ամիսների ընթացքում նա առանց քնելու և հանգստի պայքարում էր իր կյանքի համար: Նա շատ բժշկական բարդ գործողությունների և միջամտությունների միջով է ստիպված եղել անցնել: Անցել է ևս 12 շաբաթ, և տղային լքել է իր կենսաբանական մայրը: Այդ պահից սկսած ես եմ Մայքլի մայրը»:

«Նա շատ դժվարություններ է հաղթահարել՝ այսպիսի ուժեղ երեխա դառնալու համար: Մայքլը դժվարությամբ է սովորել քայլել, իսկ խոսել սկսել է երեք տարեկանում: Ատամներ նա ունեցել է իր մեկ ամյակից հետո: Բայց սերն ու ներքին ուժը ոչ մի վայրկայան չեն լքել նրան, իսկ ավելի պայծառ ժպիտ, քան Մայքլինն է, ես դեռ չեմ տեսել: Աշխարհում նրանից բարի երեխա չկա»:

«Իմ տղան սիրում է բոլորին, նաև իրեն ծաղրողներին: Նա կարողանում է պայքարել, բայց ներել նա նույնպես կարողանում է: Լավ կլիներ, շատերը նրանից բարություն սովորեին: Դուք ծիծաղում էիք նրա բրեկետների վրա, իսկ նախկինում դուք ծիծաղում էիք նրա թափթփված ուտելու գործընթացի վրա: Իսկ դուք գիտե՞ք, որ Մայքը, զուտ ֆիզիկապես չի կարողանում ուտելիքը պահել բերանում»:

«Բրեկետներ կրելն այն քայլերից մեկն է, որ իմ տղան պետք է անի առողջ կյանք ունենալու համար: Մայքլի ստորին ծնոտը թերզարգացած է եղել, իսկ հիմա նա այլևս չի թափում կերակուրը բերանից: Պետք չէ ծաղրել իմ տղային: Ավելի լավ է մտածեք» :

«Պետք չէ, որ դուք սիրեք նրան, բայց հարգանքի նա արժանի է: Ծննդյան առաջին իսկ վայրկյանից նա պայքարել է իր կյանքի համար, և այստեղ գրածս նրա պատմության միայն մի փոքրիկ մասն է: Սովորեք, մեծացեք, և հարգեք նրանց, ովքեր ձեր կողքին են գտնվում»:

Եթե բոլոր երեխաներին սովորեցնեին այն ամենը, ինչի մասին խոսում է Մերի-Էննը, ապա աշխարհում քիչ խնդիրներ կլինեին:
