 NASA-ի տվյալներով՝ 2016 թվականի հուլիսը դարձել Է Երկրի վրա ամենաշոգ ամիսն օդերեւութաբանական դիտարկումների ամբողջ պատմության ընթացքում, այսինքն՝ վերջին 136 տարում, տեղեկացնում Է Արմենպրեսը՝ հղում անելով BBC-ին:

Ինչպես լրագրողներին հայտարարել Է NASA-ի գլխավոր կլիմայագետ Գեւին Շմիդտը, ԱՄՆ-ի օդատիեզերական գործակալությունը հաշվարկել Է, որ այս տարվա հուլիսին միջին  ջերմաստիճանը Ցելսիուսի 0,84 աստիճանով բարձր Է եղել 1950 – 1980 թվականների միջին ջերմաստիճանից եւ 0,18 աստիճանով բարձր՝ նախկին ռեկորդային ամիսներից՝ 2011 թվականի հուլիսից եւ 2015 թվականի հուլիսից: Այդ երկու ամիսներին գլոբալ ջերմաստիճանը եղել Է գրեթե նույնը:   

NASA-ի տվյալներով՝ ռեկորդային շոգ ամիսների հնգյակի մեջ են մտնում նաեւ 2009 թվականի հուլիսը եւ 2014 թվականի օգոստոսը. այսինքն՝ վերջին տարիներին ռեկորդներ են սահմանվում մշտապես: 

Գիտնականների մեծ մասը մոլորակի տաքանալու պատճառը համարում Է հանածո վառելիքի այրումից ջերմոցային գազերի արտանետումները: Սակայն գիտնականները կլիմայի փոփոխման պատճառների վերաբերյալ միասնական կարծիքի չեն հանգել, թեեւ նրանց համար բուն փոփոխությունն ակնհայտ Է:
