Ռուսաստանի Դաշնության պաշտպանության նախարար Սերգեյ Շոյգուի Բաքու կատարած անակնկալ այցի գլխավոր նպատակներից մեկը եղել է Սիրիայում կառավարական ուժերի դեմ կռվող «Իսլամական պետություն» (ԻՊ) ահաբեկչական կազմակերպության դեմ հարվածներ հասցնելու համար Կասպից ծովում պլացդարմի ստեղծումը:

Նման պնդմամբ, ինչպես հաղորդում է Արմենպրեսը, հանդես է եկել ադրբեջանական իշխանամետ virtualaz.orgլրատվական կայքը` նշելով, որ Շոյգուն Ադրբեջանի ՊՆ ղեկավար Զաքիր Հասանովի հետ քննարկել է հենց այդ հարցը:

Կայքը հայտնում է, որ Հալեպը ԻՊ-ի ահաբեկիչներից եւ տարբեր հակակառավարական խմբավորումներից ազատելու համար Ռուսաստանը խոշորամասշտաբ գործողության է պատրաստվում, ինչի համար ցանկանում է օգտվել նաեւ Կասպից ծովից:

Ռուսաստանյան «Նեզավիսիմայա գազետա»-ն գրել է, որ ներկայում Ռուսաստանի ծովուժը կասպյան նավատորմը մարտական պայմանին առավելագույն մոտեցնող ռազմական վարժանքներ է անցկացնում, ինչի համար վարժանքներին մասնակից է դարձրել նաեւ «Կալիբր» թեւավոր հրթիռներով զինված ռազմական նավեր:

Այսպիսով, սպասվում է, որ ԱՄՆ-ի կողմից անուղղակիորեն աջակցվող «Ալ-Նուսրա ճակատ» (ներկայիս անունը «Ջեյս ալ-Շամ») եւ այլ ընդդիմադիր խմբերին Հալեպից դուրս մղելու համար Ռուսաստանը միեւնույն ժամանակ Սիրիայում  «Հմեյմիմ» ավիաբազայից, Իրանի Համադան ավիաբազայից եւ Կասպից ծովից, ինչպես նաեւ Ազովի ծովի նավերից հարվածներ է հասցնելու: ՌԴ-ն այդ նպատակով վարժանքներ է սկսել նաեւ Ազովի ծովում:

Սերգեյ Շոյգուն «Ռոսիա 24» հեռուստաալիքին տված հարցազրույցում ասել է, որ Ռուսաստանը ԱՄՆ-ի հետ բանակցություններ է անցկացնում Հալեպում ահաբեկիչների դեմ համատեղ գործունեությունը համաձայնեցնելու մասին եւ կողմերը մոտ են համաձայնություն ձեռք բերելուն:

The Guardian թերթը եւս գրել է, որ ԱՄՆ-ը եւ Ռուսաստանը մոտ են Հալեպում սկսվելիք գործողությանն աջակցություն ցուցաբերելուն:
