Արտաքին քաղաքականության մեջ անհաջողություններից հետո ԱՄՆ  նախագահ Բարաք Օբաման, որի պաշտոնավարման ժամկետը մոտենում է ավարտին, կարող է փորձել իր անունը թողնել պատմության մեջ ՌԴ նախագահ Վլադիմիր Պուտինի հետ հաշտեցման միջոցով, գրում է The Times-ը:

Թերթը նշում է, որ Սպիտակ տան ներկայիս ղեկավարը արտաքին քաղաքականության մեջ կշիռ չունի: Պաշտոնավարման առաջին տարիներին նա պաշտպանում էր այն գիծը, որ չգործելը  պակաս վնասակար է, քան գործելը, ուստի չէր մտնում Սիրիա եւ առանձնապես ակտիվ չէր Լիբիայում:  Օբաման ուզում էր, որ իրեն գնահատեն այն պատերազմներով, որոնք նա չի վարել, եւ արդյունքում անհասկանալի է, թե աշխարհի խոշորագույն ռազմական ուժը պատերազմելու ցանկություն ունի՞, թե՞ ոչ:

Ընդ որում, Օբաման ջանում էր, որպեսզի իր գործողություններն աշխատեին դպրոցական դասագրքերում կերպար ստեղծելու օգտին: Սակայն Կուբայի հետ ջերմացումը մռայլվեց Կաստրո եղբայրների՝ իշխանությունը կիսել չցանկանալու հանգամանքով, իսկ Իրանը, չնայած ԱՄՆ-ի հետ գործարքին, հիմա պաշտպանում է Սիրիայի նախագահ Բաշար Ասադին եւ Ռուսաստանին թույլ է տալիս մտնել իր ավիաբազաներ:

Հոդվածագրի կարծիքով՝ Օբաման իր նախագահության վերջին մի քանի ամսում կարող է Պուտինի հետ գործարքի գնալ, որի էությունն այն է լինելու, որ ԱՄՆ-ը ձեռք կքաշի Ուկրաինայից, իսկ Ռուսաստանը կդադարի «խաղեր տալ» Թուրքիայի հետ: Հեղիանակը կարծում է, որ Մոսկվան վստահ է՝ Վաշինգթոնն ավելի շատ շահագրգռված է Թուրքիային ՆԱՏՕ-ում պահելով, քան Ղրիմի առանձնացման պատճառով հակամարտությունը շարունակելով: Իսկ եվրոպացիներն, ակնհայտ է, որ ավելի շատ ուզում են Անկարայի հետ միգրացիոն գործարքը, քան Ուկրաինայի անդամակցությունը ԵՄ-ին:

Օբաման, եթե շատ ցանկանա, կարող է օգտագործել վերջին հնարավորությունը, պատմության մեջ հետք թողնելու համար, ինչպես դա ժամանակին արեց ԱՄՆ նախկին նախագահ Ռոնալդ Ռեյգանը՝ դնելով  «սառը պատերազմի» ավարտի հիմքը, գրում է հեղինակը:
